JOB DESCRIPTION AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL INTERNATIONAL SECRETARIAT JOB TITLE Team Assistant PROGRAMME Art for Amnesty (A4A) LOCATION London JOB PURPOSE To provide temporary organisational, administrative and logistical support to the Art for Amnesty team, and to assist in the delivery of both the 2017 Ambassador of Conscience Award Ceremony and Give a Home project. DEPARTMENT PURPOSE Art for Amnesty incorporates the power of creative expression to communicate difficult ideas and issues in a way that appeals emotionally and inspires our humanity to take injustice personally. Specifically, Art for Amnesty is an artist engagement programme that brings together international artists of all disciplines and nationalities, their patrons, management and friends in a collaborative effort to support Amnesty International. Art for Amnesty’s objectives are to: support and propel the strategic objectives of AI; access new audiences and engage support for AI through a programme of targeted on and offline art-related engagement opportunities in priority countries; inspire the support and respect of the international arts community by building a network of receptive cultural leaders and influencers, leading to new partnerships and major donor opportunities that will contribute to AI’s growth; promote freedom of expression for artists all over the world; amplify AI’s campaigns by engaging the support of a diverse portfolio of high priority artists; becoming the first choice cause among many who share our values; facilitate strategic artist engagement at AI Section level as an integral part of communications, campaigning and fundraising; implement, empower and support a global programme of multi-disciplinary arts projects, campaigns and events, featuring successful and sustainable partnerships with a diverse and impressive community of relevant artists and cultural institutions; foster improved territorial co-operation between AI Sections, enhancing ROI in strategic artist relationships. AIIS PURPOSE The IS, which operates from a number of sites around the world, gathers and communicates accurate and actionoriented human rights information globally. We campaign for meaningful human rights change; enable effective human rights activism and work to persuade governments and other actors to uphold universal human rights standards. We provide strategic leadership, support and advice to the AI movement globally, fostering AI’s contribution, presence and public accountability throughout the world. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Support the ongoing smooth running of the Art for Amnesty programme with administrative support including, setting up new suppliers, invoice and expense processing, diary management, travel arrangements, arranging and coordinating meetings. Undertake duties as directed/ requested by the Project Manager to support delivery of the 2017 Ambassador of Conscience Award Ceremony, Give a Home project and any other projects that may arise. Handle requests for information both internally and externally. Coordinate the work of volunteers. WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE IN THIS JOB? The functional area of the Art for Amnesty programme runs smoothly and efficiently, supported by systems and processes which uphold high standards.
