County: Dublin
Nominee: Eileen Reilly
Dublin Community Games is proud to nominate Eileen Reilly as our County Golden
Volunteer. Eileen is a tireless worker for Community Games at Area, County, Provincial and
National levels. She became involved in her local area of Limekiln Temple Manor in 1977
and has been Area Secretary for the past 30 years. She has been instrumental in
developing the Area to a level where it has won the best County Dublin Area Award for
three years running 2013, 2014 and 2015.
Eileen is a tremendous motivator and has the ability of getting the young and old working for
the good of the Community. Eileen’s passion over the years was to have every child in the
Area involved in the activity of their choice. She has the knack of choosing an activity
appropriate to their skills and guides them in that direction. She washes sports gear, makes
sure managers know activity rules and are aware of child protection issues. She applies for
available grants, liaises with Dublin County Committee and helps with area fundraising.
Eileen is a member of the Dublin Executive since 1983. At County Dublin athletic finals, she
co-ordinates the results office. Down through the years Eileen has also co-ordinated many
events such as Rounder’s, Gaelic Football, art and hand writing at County and Provisional
levels. She is Children’s Officer for County Dublin and has been Dublin County Manager at
our National Festivals for the past 15 years. She is renowned for her organisational skills.
Competitors and managers are supplied with all relevant information. She has a list of rules
for resident competitors with a big emphasis on safety. She expects respect and gets it as it.
She is treated as a much-loved grandmother. Eileen is responsible for supplying athletes
with tracksuits, singlets and ID Badges before entering their designated competitions. She
then has the onerous task of recovering all tracksuits and singlets and having them ready
for the next competition.
As a volunteer with Community Games Eileen has always been available to take on any task
as requested. She encourages the older children to stay involved with Limekiln Temple Manor
area, getting them to help with training younger competitors or refereeing
