Entry | Grammar Lesson 58 LEVEL 5 Grammar focus (Grammar focus) “Everything” means all the persons, places or things involved in the action. It is followed by a singular form of verb. E.g.) Everything looks different. (Everything looks different.) “Anything” in a question or a positive sentence means “a thing of any kind”. Especially in a question, it indicates the meaning of “free of choice”. In a negative sentence, it means “nothing at all”. The word is also followed by a singular form of verb. E.g.) I will do anything for you. (I will do anything for you.) I don’t know anything about it. (I don’t know anything about it.) Is there anything else you want me to do? (Is there anything else you want me to do?) We use each to refer to individual things in a group. It is considered singular so it takes a singular verb. E.g.) Each car is handled with care.
