Trial #4: CSEP Partial Curl-Up Test

Trial #4: CSEP Partial Curl-Up Test
This week’s Pillar of Athletic Training is Core Performance. The Trial for testing Core Performance,
the ability to maintain a strong and stable midsection through a variety of athletic movements, is the CSEP
Partial Curl-Up Test. Core Performance involves all of the abdominal muscles, (rectus abdominis, external
obliques, internal obliques and transverse abdominals) as well as the erector spinae muscles and quadratus
lumborum.
All Road to Rio team members are invited to take part in the Trial, but only the scores of three
designated members from each team will count towards their country’s weekly Trial score. Use the sheets
provided in the points tracking binders to write down the designated team members for the CSEP Partial
Curl-Up Test BEFORE the Trials begin. The CSEP Partial Curl-Up Test will be administered by a Wellness
Centre staff person at various times through the week. Please check the Trial schedule at the fitness desk
and sign up for a designated time slot. The test will take no more than 5 minutes/person. Please do a
thorough warm-up prior to arriving for your scheduled Trials appointment to prevent injury.
Note: coordinating times as a Team is not necessary because this challenge can be completed individually.
