Come experience Fayetteville, North Carolina, a place where History, Heroes and a Hometown Feeling
create the backdrop for a fun-filled 3-day adventure. A long line of valor stretches through Greater
Fayetteville. From yesteryear to today, brave soldiers, airmen, and women who serve at Fort Bragg and
beyond are honored as you celebrate our past while embracing our future.
o DAY 1 o
Hometown History & Local Highlights
ARRIVE IN FAYETTEVILLE EARLY AFTERNOON
Your visit begins with a historic walking tour of downtown. Your local guide will recount the history,
stories and people who were important to this unique city. You will see the Fayetteville Area
Transportation and Local History Museum to learn about the colonial transportation system that
united the colonies. Next, you will visit the Fayetteville Independent Light Infantry Armory to see a
treasure trove of unique artifacts and collectibles. Then you will see a number of historic churches and
discover the unique architecture in the city’s buildings. Also included on the tour is a stop at the
Market House, Cool Springs Tavern and Liberty Point.
Concluding your downtown tour, you and your guide will travel by coach to North Carolina Veterans Park. NCVP is the first North
Carolina state park dedicated to military veterans, young and old, living and deceased, from all branches of the Armed Services.

A popular option for dinner this evening is the Fort Bragg Club, featuring the Army Catering Program, where you’ll have an
admirable glimpse of history at Fort Bragg.

Fort Bragg Experience: A Full-Day TDY
BEGIN YOUR DAY…
…with a guided tour of Fort Bragg, one of the US Army’s most
important installations. A guide will provide insights and stories of
our patriots in uniform. During your TDY (temporary duty
assignment), you will see the headquarters of the famous Golden
Knights Parachute team, tour the JFK Special Warfare Museum
and visit the 82nd Airborne Division War Memorial Museum.

…enjoy dinner at a popular local eatery, Chris’s Open Hearth Steak and Seafood House. With the presence of our military,
Fayetteville’s dining options have flourished. Built as a barbecue lodge in Fayetteville’s first shopping center, and with its addition of an
open hearth, Chris’s has been serving our community since 1963. Enjoy its “good ole American” status!

1897 Poe House and Airborne & Special Operations Museum
BEGIN YOUR DAY…
…with a tour of the 1897 Poe House, home of an affluent Fayetteville businessman and his family. Here, you
discover innovations and changes that defined the turn of the 20th Century. Uncover historic, technological,
economic and social changes in North Carolina and the United States as told by your guide.
Next, it’s off to the Airborne & Special Operations Museum which highlights the role of
the US Army’s Airborne and Special Operations forces since 1940. Explore the
sacrifices, courage, devotion to duty, and exploits of those who jump in to battle. Travel through time with unique
artifact displays, life-size dioramas, and exciting audio-visual exhibits. Guided tours are available with advance request.
You may bring lunch to enjoy at the ASOM Reflection Garden, or arrange for a catered group lunch in
the Lindsay room.
