Many of them are likely to have heard about the Statue of Liberty, but won't be able to work out the correct matching for e.g. the Metropolitan Museum of Art. What do you like most about...? Students should be able to identify the places from the video without too much difficulty. Key: Photographs: A - Central Park, B - Times Square, C - Broadway, D - Brooklyn Bridge Speech bubbles: 1 - D, 2 - C, 3 - B, 4 - B, 5 - D, 6 - A. 2. A great day out. As an extra activity, you may ask your students to correct the false statements. Key: 1 - False (there are skyscrapers outside of the Central Park), 2 - False (there is a Boat House restaurant), 3 - False (her school is there), 4 - True, 5 - False (once a month), 6 - False (five districts: Manhattan, Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island), 7 - True, 8 - False (more than forty five million) 3. This multi-cultural city has a lot to offer and today I will show you how to spend a great day out here. Gosia: When you hear New York, you will probably think of The Statue of Liberty or Empire State Building. But there are many other places in Big Apple to spend a great day out. Voice: Central Park is located in the middle of Manhattan and it covers more than 3 square kilometers. This park is surrounded with statues, hills, lakes and trees and just outside of it you can find the highest skyscrapers in the world. Alcione Gonzales: I come to Central Park at least once a week. When I come here I like to go running or if not I like to walk around on walking paths. And Central Park is a big, beautiful park in the middle of Manhattan, where there are a lot of bike paths, walking paths, people like to work out, play in the grass, sit on the benches and read books or write or have lunch. Voice: What kind of interesting places can you find in Central Park? I’m here every day and I love it, it’s wonderful. There are a lot of people, a lot of lights. So much to do. I really like it. I like how it looks at night, when all the lights are on and you just feel like: WOW I can’t believe I’m here. and there are a lot of people. From seven in the morning to twelve midnight.
