Dear Friends and Families,

the Online Safety event.
Oak: Beautiful writing when writing a letter home to Beowulf’s father as part
of our Beowulf work.
Governor News
At our first Full Governing Board meeting of the academic year we decide
on specific roles and responsibilities. John Tristram, who has served as a
Governor at Offwell for a number of years and as Vice-Chair for most of
them has now expressed the wish to step down from the Vice-Chair role.
We are very grateful to John for all his work in that position, through periods
of change, and his contribution has been invaluable. We are delighted that
he will continue to bring his knowledge and experience to the Board, and
equally pleased that Ian Wallace, one of our three Parent Governors, has
kindly agreed to become Vice Chair. I am honoured to continue as Chair.
Dr Phillip Ambler

Welcome to After School Provision (WASP)
A reminder that we run these sessions on
Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3.15pm
until 5pm at a cost of £4.50 per child per
session. These sessions are led by Marina
Hodder and Andy Clapp. Mrs Hodder attends all
sessions and Mr Clapp attends on Mondays and
as required on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We
presently have vacancies on all days but need
one or two more regular children on Tuesdays and Thursdays to make it
financially viable to employ Mr Clapp. Please contact us if you would like your
child to attend or would like further information.
Reception/Year 6 Height and Weight Checks
Parents/carers of children in Reception and Year 6 have been sent information

Internet Safety earlier in the week.
Mrs A Billington
Thelma Hulbert Gallery has been
shortlisted as regional finalists to go
forward to a public vote in Tesco’s Bags
of Help project!
The gallery stands to win a grant of up
to £12,000 for our community garden.
Voting is open in Honiton, Axminster
and Seaton Tesco stores from 31
October – 13 November. Customers
will be able to cast their vote using a
token given to them at the check-out in
store each time they shop. The project
with the highest number of votes
across the region will receive £12,000,
the second placed project £10,000 and
the third placed project £8,000.
Bags of Help sees money raised by
customers through Tesco’s 5p bag
charge go directly back into the local
community. If we win, we want to
expand our community garden for
more local people to enjoy.
·
£8,000 would help us add
more seating and fund local
primary schools to create a
mosaic table for everyone to
use.
·
£10,000 would go towards
creating a sensory pathway
using musical instruments
made in workshops with East
Devon community groups.
This would really make a
difference to our visitors with
visual impairments and those
living with Dementia.
·
£12,000 would give us much
needed tools for our garden
volunteers and new plants to
use in dyeing and
printmaking workshops for all
the community.
If you or your family and friends shop
in these stores, please vote for us and
spread the word!
