KE Y DU TIES AND
R E S P O NSIBILITIES
• Lead development of novel biological
components (peptides, protein, DNA), using
synthetic biology to augment synthetic
materials.
• Designing DNA libraries for protein
engineering towards desired properties
• Establish tested protocols for chosen display
methodologies in LG laboratory.
• Construct and screen display libraries for lead
molecule identification.
• Establish and optimise display systems for
assessment of binding affinity, stability and
soluble yield.

E S S E N TIAL SKILLS
& Q U A L I FICATIONS
• PhD / MSc / MRes in molecular biology, or similar.
• Significant experience with basic molecular biological techniques,
e.g.: DNA Assembly, cloning, quantification; E. coli protein
expression & purification.
• Practical experience using medium / high throughput screening
methods to engineer novel proteins.
• A basic grounding in computational biology.
D ES I R A BLE SKILLS
• Experience with cell-free display technologies (e.g. ribosome
display, mRNA display) and/or in vivo display technologies (e.g. E.
coli display, yeast display).
• Experience leading research projects.
• Experience translating established bench protocols to liquid
handling robots.
• Expertise in bioinformatics, in particular: DNA library design, NGS
data analysis and machine learning.
• Knowledge and understanding of the materials science space.
• Experience in protein production scale-up.
CO MP ETENCIES
• Ability to communicate work to collaborative researchers outside
of biosciences.
• Willing to rapidly learn new concepts outside of comfort zone.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to quickly and concisely communicate progress and
problems to members of a small team.
