Psalm 23:6a
“Comfort #9: The Comfort of My Shepherd’s Promise
Read Psalm 23:6a. What does the little but powerful word “surely”
suggest to you? How confident was David over God’s goodness and
mercy?
When it comes to your relationship with God, are you a “surely” or a
“not so sure” believer?
Who or what is a covenant child? What is the difference between
covenant externals and internals?
Do you ever fear that the Lord might forsake you? If God’s goodness
and mercy follow His covenant children all their days, will God forsake
them?
The Bible often speaks of God fighting for His children (Ex. 14:13-14).
What battles did David face? What battles are you facing today?
When it comes to your life’s battles, can you say, “Surely, God’s
goodness and mercy are fighting for me”? How does God fight for His
people?
We will persevere in faith because God promises to preserve us. What
is our part and what is God’s part (Phil. 2:12-13)?
What are the spiritual disciplines we must use to be fed by God?
David was certain God would be with him “all the days of my life.”
Why?
Are you certain God will finish what He started in your life? Read
Philippians 1:6, 1 Corinthians 1:8, and 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24.
Ask God to make you more of a “surely” Christian and less of a “not so
sure” Christian.

Psalm 23:6b
Comfort #10: The Comfort of My Shepherd’s Paradise
On the one hand, Psalm 23 ends with verse 6b. But on the other hand,
Psalm 23:6b is only just the beginning. In what way?
David concludes Psalm 23 with comfort 10 – the promise of my
shepherd’s paradise! David looked forward to dwelling in the Lord’s
house forever. Describe what your childhood house was like?
There is no doubt in David’s mind that paradise is real. Do you share
his belief? Read the opening verses of John 14. What does Jesus say?
Notice it is the house of “the LORD.” So whose house is it? Who
determines who gets to live in God’s house forever?
Why is there no rent or mortgage to pay to dwell in God’s house? Who
paid our way? How?
David uses the word “forever” to describe the eternal nature of God’s
house. When you think of dwelling with Jesus Christ forever, what
comes to mind? What does Revelation 2:7 suggest?
Read Psalm 65:4 and Luke 23:43. In what way can a Christian say God’s
house or paradise is “mine”? Do you have true faith and assurance
that you will enter paradise the moment you die?
Who needs to hear the gospel from you this week?
