STATUTE LAW REVISION ACT 2016
An Act to promote the revision of statute law by repealing enactments which have
ceased to be in force or have become unnecessary and to amend the Statute Law
Revision Act 2007.
[26th December, 2016]
Be it enacted by the Oireachtas as follows:
Repeals
1.
The Acts of the Oireachtas specified in the Schedule are repealed.
Savings
2.
(1) This Act does not affect any existing principle or rule of law or equity, or any
established jurisdiction, form or course of pleading, practice or procedure or any
existing trust, notwithstanding that it may have been in any manner derived from,
affirmed or recognised by any Act repealed by this Act.
(2) Where any Act not repealed by this Act has been applied, confirmed, revived or
perpetuated by a repealed Act, such application, confirmation, revival or perpetuation
is not affected by the repeal.
(3) The inclusion of an Act in the Schedule shall not be construed as meaning that the
Act, or any provision of it, was of full force and effect immediately before the passing
of this Act.

(1) In this section—
“Act of 2007” means the Statute Law Revision Act 2007;
“relevant statute” means the statute 40 Geo. 3 c.66, being an Act of the former
Parliament of Ireland and reference to which occurs in Schedule 2 to the Act of 2007.
(2) Notwithstanding section 2(1), or any other provision, of the Act of 2007, the
following provisions have effect in relation to the relevant statute:
(a) the relevant statute shall be deemed never to have been the subject of the repeals
effected by the Act of 2007 and, accordingly, the relevant statute shall be deemed
always to have been, and to be, a statute specified in Schedule 1 to the Act of
2007 (as distinct from a statute specified in Schedule 2 to that Act); and

(b) any act done, or proceeding taken, under the relevant statute at a time that fell on,
or after, the passing of the Act of 2007 shall have the same validity as it would
have had if this section had been in operation at that time.
(3) The relevant statute may be cited as the Association for Promoting Christian
Knowledge Act 1800.
Short title and collective citation

(1) This Act may be cited as the Statute Law Revision Act 2016.
(2) The Statute Law Revision Acts 1861 to 2015 and this Act may be cited together as the
Statute Law Revision Acts 1861 to 2016.
