Calculating Profits from Selling Lemonade
In this activity, you will each set up and run your own business—a lemonade stand. You will
make all the business decisions about materials, costs, and how to make the lemonade. You will
run the lemonade stand, record your data, and then analyze how much money you made or lost.


o Read the Introduction and make sure you understand the decisions you will have
to make about pricing, quality control, inventory control, purchasing supplies, and
weather to run your lemonade stand.

Open the Lemonade Stand Data Report workbook from your F:
o You will use this spreadsheet to record the decisions you make about how to run
your lemonade stand, the data you collect, and the outcomes of your game.
o RESAVE THIS AND INCLUDE YOUR NAME IN THE TITLE.

Run your stand and record your data for 14 days.
o Make sure that you record all the data for each day.
o Make sure you record the decisions you made each day

Create a chart displaying the difference in Total Income and Total Expenses. Give
your chart a title and locate it in another sheet. Change the color of the Chart Area,
Plot Area, and Data Series to go along with the Opulent color scheme from sheet 1.

Create a line chart comparing the high temperature for Week 1 and Week 2. You will
have to create the chart for one week and then edit your data to include the other
week. Give your chart a title and locate it in another sheet.

Create a line chart with markers comparing the End of Day $ for Week 1 and Week 2.
Give your chart a title and locate it in another sheet. Change the color of the line, give
it a heavier weight. Change the color and style of the line marker.

Create a stacked line chart showing the Week 2 Customer Satisfaction and Popularity.
Create a name for the chart and locate it in another sheet. Display the legend on top
and show data labels above the line.
Open a new Microsoft Word document when you are done. Write the answers to the following
questions individually.
 Did you make a profit? Do you think your lemonade stand was successful?
 List several reasons why you made a profit or why you did not make a profit.
 What did you learn from playing the game?
 Look over your data. Do you see any patterns?
 What advice would you give to someone who wants to be successful at playing this
game?
