variety of meals that can be purchased by

the Discovery Bay front desk during daily
check-in.
Do you have an outdoor playground?
AN
ENVIRONMENT
WHERE
CHILDREN
FEEL HAPPY,
ENGAGED
AND WELL
CARED FOR.
There is not an outdoor play area available
at PRO Sports Club. Instead we provide
Enrichment classes and Active Play
indoors. Children enrolled in Preschool
engage in Music, Dance and Movement
classes daily to provide an opportunity
for large motor play. Pre-Kindergarten
students participate in Active Play using
the pool, soccer arena and racquetball
courts each week. Kindergarten Prep
students use these facilities, visit the park
weekly for outdoor play and receive a swim
lesson each week.
What are the benefits of attending 5
days per week?
Research on Early Childhood Education
has shown that attending school 5
days per week provides consistency
that is highly beneficial for children
under the age of 5. Children at this age
learn through repetition and thrive on
consistency. Attending a preschool 5 days
per week allows a child’s learning to be
reinforced from one day to the next. This
continuity, along with the opportunity for
more practice, allows children to reach
their highest potential and obtain more
throughout the course of a year.
What do you do to attract and retain
qualified teachers?
We offer a competitive compensation
package and provide excellent working
conditions to attract and retain the best
teachers possible. Our teachers also sign
yearly contracts. This helps to ensure that
teachers stay with our program for the
entire school year.
How do you compare to other
preschool/pre-k programs in the
Eastside area?
Discovery Bay Learning Academy offers
many valuable features that other
preschool programs in the area do not
provide, such as:
• Children have daily access to PRO
Sports Club’s world class facilities
including the aquatics center, soccer
arena and racquetball courts to
support the development of motor
skills and healthy lifestyle choices.
• Children’s learning of academic
subjects (literacy, math, science and

nutrition) is supported using our state
of the art TeachSmart Interactive
Whiteboard system. This system
brings learning to life by presenting
activities that would normally be done
in workbooks with sound, colorful
graphics and interactive, hands-on
learning.
• Parents will have the convenience
of being able to work out, enjoy the
club’s amenities or take care of other
responsibilities both on and off-site
while your child attends school. This
saves time and money because you
can use the club and have extended
childcare available all in the same
location.
• Our instruction is highly
individualized. We assess children’s
learning progress on an ongoing basis
so that we can individualize learning
goals. This ensures that children are
challenged when appropriate while
also receiving the support they need
to reach their full potential. We also
provide low teacher-to-student ratios.
• We value the connection between
school and home. Parents receive
copies of weekly lesson plans and
learning summaries that keep them
informed on what their child is
learning. These materials include
suggestions for how to extend
learning at home. Parents can join
our classroom Facebook page to see
photos of what children are doing
at school. We also include valuable
learning resources for families to use
at home. All assessment materials are
stored in online student portfolios that
parents can access at any time.
At Discovery Bay Learning
Academy we create an
environment where children
feel happy, engaged and well
cared for. Our knowledgeable
Early Childhood teachers
understand the delicate
balance of stimulating curious,
young minds in a warm and
nurturing manner. Your child
will experience the joys
of learning, grow socially,
advance academically and
develop a healthy body and
mind. Each child will finish
the year prepared to succeed
in future school settings.
Program Teaching Philosophy
We teach the whole child, introducing the
academic subjects of literacy, math, and
science along with an emphasis on child
health and social/emotional development.
Our skilled teachers engage children
intellectually, physically, emotionally,
and socially using hands-on, play-based
teaching techniques.
Our curriculum focuses on providing
children with authentic, age appropriate,
multi-sensory learning experiences.
Through the use of individualized
instruction, our highly qualified teachers
draw on children’s emerging learning
abilities and natural sense of curiosity
to encourage a lifelong excitement for
learning. We provide children with the
skills and knowledge they need to be
successful in future academic settings.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN
Recognizing that young children
learn best through hands-on,
multi-sensory experiences, we
have developed a program that will
allow children to build a strong
foundation in academic areas along
with developing healthy habits. In
addition, we help children learn the
social and emotional skills they will
need to be successful in a larger
school setting.

Academic School Year
Discovery Bay Learning Academy is a yearlong learning program. Our school year
runs from September to June and follows
the Bellevue School District calendar
for school closures. All classes run on
a set schedule in order to provide the
highest level of consistency and deliver a
continuous curriculum. We offer 2, 3 and
5 day enrollment options. Extended care
is also available in our childcare program.
Please inquire with our Director if you
need all day care.
ALLERGY ALERT:
NUT & NUT BY PRODUCTS
To protect the safety of children, Discovery
Bay restricts foods that contain nuts or
nut by products. We also ask that you
please not bring items that may contain
traces of peanuts, tree nuts or products
processed in a facility that also processes
nuts. However, please be aware that
Discovery Bay is not a completely nut
free zone as we do offer members the
convenience of ordering food from
restaurants onsite. Although no items on
the children’s menu contain nuts or nut
by products, these foods are prepared in
a facility that is not a nut free zone.
Your child will gain the most benefit by
completing the entire year. Short term
enrollment or interrupted enrollment is
disruptive for both your child and other
children in our program. Therefore,
we require that you make a minimum
commitment of at least 5 months to enroll
in our school. Space may be held during
extended travel by paying 50% of your
normal monthly tuition. Early withdrawal
and dis-enrolling without proper notice
will incur additional fees.
