In 1978, a little breakfast and lunch place with an
emphasis on home cooking, named The Hobnobber
opened on Baronne Street in the Central Business
District with George and Diana Timphony as
proprietors. Over the course of the next twenty plus
years the Hobnobber would grow to include locations
throughout the Central Business District and
downtown New Orleans. All of these locations were
owned and operated by a member of the Timphony
family. In 1991, George and Diana went into
partnership with their son Troy and his wife Cindy
to open the Hobnobber Café & Grill at the corner of
West Metairie and Clearview Parkway. While this was
a new venture tapping into a Metairie neighborhood
and serving lunch and dinner, our commitment to
home cooking and friendly service remained. We
successfully operated Hobnobber Café for nine
years. 2000 brought some changes that included
selling the Hobnobber Café & Grill and moving into
yet another new venture. Timphony’s Restaurant,
was a casual dining restaurant with waiter
service that was operated by George and Diane
Timphony until their retirement in 2009. Troy and
Cindy had the opportunity to open the Hobnobber
Café in 2004. Being back in the neighborhood
feels like coming home and we are excited to be
here. Our commitment to friendly service with
home cooked meals in a family atmosphere is
our goal. We hope you enjoy your dining experience
