Art Projects
This week all the children took part in Art Projects. They have all designed and painted a ‘prayer pebble’. This will be
one of the pebbles they can use in our new ‘prayer garden’ that has been designed by our Y6 children as their Legacy
Project. Over the summer the ‘prayer garden’ will be installed and from September our children will be able to sit in
this garden to make a prayer for a loved one, for other people in need, or just to sit quietly and enjoy the peace. Our
Year 6 children have been busy decorating elements of this prayer garden with our VALUES for LIFE and with their
favourite parts of the Bible. All the children have also designed their ‘Class logo’ and a ‘School Council logo’. School
Council will choose their favourites and these will be turned into signs for the doors, labels and document headings.
Here, at St John’s, we highly value each and every child’s voice in their learning environment, encouraging their
commitment to engaging with and feeling a part of their learning community.
Interhouse Spelling Bee
This week, our children took part in an Interhouse Spelling Tournament. The children had a great time practising their
spellings and competing against each other. Each and every child scored points for their House team, and then in the
afternoon the ‘champions’ came forward in a special assembly. It was great to see the children engaging in this exciting
challenge. The winning House will be announced on Monday by Mrs Nicholls who organised the event.
Sports day and Facebook
Dear parents and carers. It has been reported to the school that videos of the children taking part have been posted
on facebook without the permission of those parents concerned. Please can permission be sought from the parents
of the children in these videos or please can these videos be taken down from Facebook accounts.
Sporting success!
Congratulations to our girls football team, who in their very fist girls only football match beat Wylye valley 5-3! Also
huge congratulations to Puran Pun who has won the ‘Golfing Superstar of the Year’ out of all of the schools and
children that Dave Stockley coaches around the Warminster and Westbury area – 112 children in total! A very special
achievement!

End of Year Reports
Today we have issued the annual report to Parents. As you know we have changed it this year to be an end-of-year
summary of achievements- in line with the majority of schools. We hope that you like the new format as well, and that
it provides you with significant and detailed information as to how well your child is doing. Thank you to the staff for
the hours and hours of personal time they have put into creating these comprehensive and highly personalised reports.
Parent Questionnaire
Today we have also issued another parent questionnaire. We would be grateful if you could kindly return before the
end of the academic year as it will help us to prioritise any areas for improvement.
Wiltshire Libraries Summer Reading Challenge
On Wednesday Wiltshire Libraries visited to remind children of the Summer Reading Challenge. Recent analysis has
shown that those children in this school (and across the country) who read regularly over the summer come back more
ready to learn and apply themselves, and tend to make better progress during the Autumn term. This challenge is FREE
and FUN! Join the library for FREE and it will open up a world of learning and future success for your child as your child
will begin to read more and more.
