ELVIN, affectionately known as "BARLEY" was the one
and only son of the late RICHARD and ESTELLA
PARSONS. Born in Road Town, he attended and graduated
from the Road Town Methodist Church School.
Elvin complemented his schooling when he embarked on
a Tailoring Course and became an exceptionally competent
Tailor. He was also a Sunday School Leader and a member of
the late Isaac (Sony) Hodge's Class. Elvin was a '!lember of
the TORTOLA JUVENILE BAND. He played the ALTO
HORN. His participation in the JUNIOR CRICKET
CLUB included Chief Scorer.
Years later Elvin migrated to St. Thomas during the
BOURNEFIELD ERA. There he earned his living plying
both trades, for he was a skilled painter as well as a tailor. His
tailoring expertise was done at a small Tailor Shop in Savan.
After several years he returned and remained at home.
Elvin lived a quiet, reserved and seemingly eventful life;
A man of few words and gentle spirit but very independent.
He was admired and respected by all who knew him. He was
a very generous and caring father and friend who NEVER,
NEVER asked for or accepted anything in return.
Elvin died as he lived, quietly and calmly barely observed
by those present.
May the soul of our Beloved Elvin Rest in Peace.

When you are tempted and tried,
·
Just close your eyes and open your hearts.
fi $ather's message for his children
Just close your eyes and open your heart,
And feel your worries and cares depart.
Just yield yourself to the Father above
And let Him hold you secure in His love.
For life on earth grows more involved
With endless problems that can't be solvedBut God only asks us to do our best,
Then He will "take over and finish the rest.
So when you are tired, discouraged and blue,
There's always one door that is open to you And that is the door to the house of prayer
And you'll find god waiting to meet you there.
And the house of prayer is no farther away
Than the quiet spot where you kneel and pray For the heart is a temple when God is there
As we place ourselves in His laving care,
And He hears every prayer and answers each one
When we pray in His name "Thy will be done
And the burdens that seemed too heavy to bear
Are lifted away on the wings of prayer.
