The BATRAM 1550 LRF - stealth target acquisition
The BATRAM 1550 (Burst Adjustable Tactical Ranging Aiming Module) is
the next-generation laser range finder from KONGSBERG. It is an eye-safe,
ruggedized LRF offering a measurement range of 4,000 meters under standard
operational conditions. New functionality in the BATRAM 1550 facilitates
measurements of extra-long range targets at distances surpassing 10,000 meters.
The BATRAM 1550 operates in three measuring modes. In Single Measurement
mode, individual measurements can be performed every second. In Adjustable
Continuous Measurement mode, measurements are executed automatically
at a sustained rate of 1, 5 or 10 Hz. Continuous mode is useful for tracking
moving targets or conducting speed measurements. The new Extended
Range mode enables the warfighter to conduct extra-long range
measurements at 10,000 meters and beyond.
This module has been designed for maximum lethality on the battlefield when
integrated with the PROTECTOR Remote Weapon Station (RWS) family.
Operating at 1550 nm, this LRF promotes a tactical posture for the warfighter.
The range-gating option provides the ability to ensure that targets outside
of a weapon’s effective range aren’t engaged. Multi-pulse technology
cuts through battlefield obstacles to provide an accurate range measurement.
The BATRAM 1550 is Class 1 eye-safe in all measurement modes, in accordance
with ANSI Z136.1 and IEC 60825-1. It includes two laser pointers for aiming
and aligning purposes, one Visible and one Infrared. The laser pointers have
two power modes; the eye-safe Normal mode, and the non-eye-safe
High Power mode.

The BATRAM 1550 is a high performance, high reliability LRF due to the
effective utilization of semiconductor laser technology. The InGaAsP material
used for the laser emitter diode provides a lifetime exceeding several thousand
gigashots. This technology, together with a laser receiver based on an
Avalanche Photo Diode, provides a reliable, high repetition rate, eye-safe LRF.
This module builds on a track record of combat-proven excellence. The original
G1 LRF, of which over 10,000 units have been produced since 2005, is currently
