H IGHLAND PARK SCOTS SUMMER BASEBALL CAMP
Tuesday, May 30th – Friday, June 2nd , 2017
The Highland Park Baseball Camp is designed to teach the fundamentals of the great game of
baseball. Fundamentals are essential for a young baseball player. They provide the basis for
improvement, which aids in the overall enjoyment of the game. Coach Yoder, Coach Leidner,
Coach Roan, Coach Byrd, and former Scots are excited about the opportunity to teach these
skills to every young baseball player attending this year’s camp.

**In case of inclement weather, the camp may be moved into the indoor facility across from Highlander
Stadium. Please go to Scotland Y ard first and directions will be given at that time. Boys (ages 5-6) will be
separated into the indoor facility at the camp. The first day of camp, everyone will meet at Scotland Y ard. **
Cost for Camp: $150.00 per camper, which includes T-shirt and daily prizes. $140 each
for two from same family. Walk ups are welcomed for a small extra fee ($165 for walk
ups.) Pro-rated if you can’t make the whole camp; email Coach Yoder for details.

TRAVIS YODER
Head Varsity Coach
Head Coach Travis Yoder was
born in Carmel, Indiana and
raised in Plano, Texas. He graduated from Plano Senior High
School in 1995 and the
University of Texas at Austin in
1999. He obtained his Master’s
in Education in 2010 from
Lamar University. He was the
Head Coach Travis Yoder
head varsity baseball coach for
five years at W.H. Adamson
High School in Dallas. He led his team to back-to-back
playoff appearances in 2005 and 2006, which was the first
time in the school’s baseball program since 1960 and
1961. With this accomplishment, he earned the honor of
Coach of the Year in the District 13-4A in 2006. In
2012, as the varsity assistant coach to Fred Oliver, Coach
Yoder was awarded the Assistant Coach of the Year by
the THSBCA. This is his thirteenth year at Highland
Park High School and fourth year as head baseball coach
of the Scots. He looks forward to another successful season as the head coach at this renowned program. He is
married to Christy, who teaches second grade in
McKinney ISD. They have son named Parker (9) and a
little girl, True (7).
JONATHAN ROAN
JV Blue
Coach Jonathan Roan is in his
ninth year of coaching and teaching and this is his fourth year
with Highland Park. Coach Roan
is the JV Blue coach. He formerly
taught in Forney ISD at the middle school and high school level.
He was born and raised in
Rowlett, Texas, where he graduatCoach Jonathan Roan ed from Rowlett High School in
2004, lettering in baseball. Coach
Roan attended Texas A&M Commerce, graduated in 2008
with a Bachelors of Science in History and obtained his
Masters in Education in 2016. Roan married his high
school sweetheart, Brittany and they've been married for
seven years. She is in her first year at Dallas Christian
teaching kindergarten. They have a daughter, Madison, (6),
a son, Easton (2) and a daughter, McKenzie (1).
BOBBY LEIDNER
Assistant Coach
Coach Bobby Leidner is in his
eighth year at Highland Park
High School and his 14th year
coaching and teaching overall. He
works with the pitchers and
catchers for the Scots baseball
program; coaches the varsity HP
football defensive line; teaches
both Biology and Anatomy/
Coach Bobby Leidner Physiology at the high school.
Prior to coaching in Highland
Park, he coached at DeSoto High School where he was the
varsity baseball assistant and Biology teacher. Coach
Leidner graduated from Texas A&M University with a
degree in Kinesiology and has his master’s degree from
Lamar University in Educational Administration. He is
originally from Mission, Texas where he lettered in both
football and baseball at Mission High School. He has been
married to his wife Melissa, a 5th grade teacher in Carroll
ISD, for eight and a half years. They have two sons, Will (4) and
Jack (2).
STEPHEN BYRD
JV Gold
Coach Stephen Byrd is in his
ninth year of coaching and teaching and this is his third year with
Highland Park High School. He
is the JV Gold coach for the Scots.
Coach Byrd attended the
University of Mary Hardin-Baylor
and received his Bachelor of
Science in History and EXSS. He
Coach Stephen Byrd
then attended Concordia
University and received a Master’s degree in Differentiation and Instruction. He has been
married to Ashley for ten years and they have three daughters, Kinley (6), Kambri (4) and Kyler (6 mo.). Coach
Byrd’s hobbies are spending time with his family, watching
sports, reading, and traveling.
