Microsoft Excel can be used to create self-checking activities.
Enter Formulas
Click the cell where you want the Checking Machine’s answer to appear (Cell F9, in this
case.)
In formula bar (fx) type this formula: =IF(B9=D9,"Great Job","Try Again")
The formula must be entered exactly as it appears here.
This is telling the Checking Machine the following:
a. If the word in cell B9 (follow in this case) is the same as the word in cell D9
(follow, in this case)
b. Then the words “Great Job” should appear in Cell F9.
c. If this is not true, then the words “Try Again” will appear.
Enter the correct formula for each of the three words you have entered into your table.
Test your Checking Machine by entering the correct student response in cell B2.
Test Checking Machine by entering an incorrect student response in cell B2.
