Moe Dunford
A graduate of the Gaiety School of Acting, Moe
Dunford was nominated for the prestigious Bingham
Ray New Talent Award at this year’s Galway Film
Fleadh for his performance in Terry McMahon’s
award-winning Patrick’s Day. Apart from stage work
and appearances in series as The Tudors and Game
Of Thrones, Moe has been cast in the lead role
of Aethelwulf in the international TV production
Vikings.
Lithuania
European Film Promotion ( EFP) presents Europe’s most talented
acting talent at the Berlinale, via a series of press and industry events,
culminating in the European Shooting Stars awards ceremony at the
Berlinale Palast, on Monday night.
Denmark
Joachim Fjelstrup
Joachim Fjelstrup studied at The Danish National
School of Performing Arts, moving on to make
his screen acting debut as the 1960’s rock star Eik
Skaløe in Ole Christian Madsen’s Itsi Bitsi, which
premiered at TIFF. He has since appeared opposite
former Shooting Star Pilou Asbæk in Roni Ezra’s
WWII drama April 9 th as well as in two graduation
films from The National Film School of Denmark.
Finland
Emmi Parviainen
Although Emmi Parvainen graduated from
Helsinki’s Theatre Academy this year, she can
already look back on 20 years of acting on stage,
television and screen. Her breakthrough came
with the role of Marja in Jan Forsström’s The
Princess Of Egypt in 2013. Emmi is also one of
the leads in Taru Mäkelä’s comedy Eila, Rampe
And The Baby Girl which opened in Finnish
cinemas last December.
Germany
Jannis Niewöhner
Jannis Niewöhner had his first role at the age of
ten in a Tatort episode. He became known to a wider
audience through his performance as Gideon de
Villiers in the film version of Kerstin Gier’s bestselling
fantasy time-travel Ruby Red trilogy. In 2014,
Jannis played a lead role in Four Kings and made his
international acting debut in Mika Kaurismäki’s
The Girl King.
Iceland
Hera Hilmar
Hera Hilmar’s first major role was in acclaimed films
Gudny Halldorsdottir’s The Quiet Storm and
Runar Runarsson’s 2 Birds. Since graduating from
London’s LAMDA , Hera’s projects have included
Joe Wright’s Anna Karenina, Christopher Smith’s
Get Santa and David Goyer’s Da Vinci’s Demons.
Hera received a special mention at the 2014 Zurich
Film Festival for her role in Balvin Z’s Life In A
Fishbowl.
Aistė Diržiūtė
Aistė Diržiūtė is in her final year of acting studies
at the Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy
and has already been cast in roles for TV and
commercials. Her first major film acting role was
in Alanté Kavaïté’s The Summer Of Sangaile, which
has been selected for the Panorama section at the
2015 Berlinale. Aistė has since been cast for Robert
Mullan’s We Will Sing about the 1991 revolution
in Lithuania.
The Netherlands
Abbey Hoes
Abbey Hoes’s screen debut was in Boudewijn
Koole’s 2009 acclaimed Maite Was Here. She was
named one of the Most Promising Young Talents
at the 2012 Dutch Film Festival, where in 2014 she
won a Golden Calf for her role in Saskia Diesing’s
Nena, which has been selected for Generation
2015 in the Berlinale. Abbey has also been cast in
Nicole van Kilsdonk’s Ventoux and in Ineke
Houtman’s Escape.
Spain
Natalia de Molina
Natalia de Molina’s first major role was in David
Trueba’s 2013 film Living Is Easy With Eyes Closed.
Her awards include the 2014 Goya Award for Best
New Actress, for her performance as Belén. Natalia
has since worked with Alfonso Albacete, Manuela
Moreno and Enrique Rivero. She is now in the lead
of Juan Miguel del Castillo’s debut Roof And Food
about the current economic crisis in Spain.
Switzerland
Sven Schelker
A graduate of Munich’s Otto Falckenberg School,
Sven Schelker has been a member of Hamburg’s
Thalia Theatre acting ensemble since 2012. Whilst
there, Sven appeared in Macbeth, Platonov and The
Tragedy of Romeo & Juliet. Sven received the Migros
Culture Percentage Acting Student Award in 2010
and 2011. His film acting debut was in Stefan Haupt’s
The Circle – Switzerland’s entry for the Foreign
Language Film Oscar.
United Kingdom
Maisie Williams
Maisie Williams is best known for her role as Arya
Stark in HBO ’s TV series Game Of Thrones, and has
earned two Portal Awards in 2012 for Best Supporting
Actress and Best Young Actor in TV. She became
the youngest actor to achieve this honour and was
also named Best British Actor at the Radio 1 Teen
Awards in 2013. Maisie has appeared in the films
Heatstroke and Gold and was cast as a lead in Carol
Morley’s The Falling.
