Twelfth Night Collaborative Project Watershed/7C WInter 2016 Every project must include: ● an outline and 14day timeline to guide your project for approval (by end of day two) ● a clear connection to the characters, plot, and theme of Twelfth Night ● integration of the text of the play ● a presentation component; either recorded or live ● consideration for time limit; each presentation should last a minimum of 5 minutes and aim for no longer than 10 minutes Some Ideas for Projects ● Interview Olivia, Orsino, or Sir Andrew about their roles. ● Organize a group to record selected scenes from each act which will convey a summary or outline of the plot of Twelfth Night. ● Create a Jeopardy or trivia game based on Twelfth Night. ● Create a model (digital or physical) of a theater with figures/puppets representing the characters from Twelfth Night and stage the play in either a live or recorded format. ● Sketch characters in costume for inclusion in program notes or advertising posters. ● Create masks for mistaken identity characters. ● Create a collage conveying the spirit of comedy in Twelfth Night . ● Design costumes for the characters for a contemporary production of Twelfth Night. ● Compose or choose a song to close the play. Retain the idea expressed in Feste's words. ● Write love poetry as authored by the characters in Twelfth Night. ● Construct a poster of stereotype images: Draw or use ads to illustrate such types as "the brain," "grandmotherly," "loser," "VIP," etc. ● Create illustrations for a new edition of the book Twelfth Night. ● Write a script of one episode of Twelfth Night for a TV Soap Serial.u ● Create cartoon strips of episodes, incidents, or scenes in the play. ● Make posters of caricatures of the major or minor characters in the play. ● If a play's impact is a statement about life, can you, in a visual or performative form, depict the statement made in Twelfth Night? ● Create a promptbook for a chosen character in a scene of the play. Assessment Rules: Advanced Proficient Needs Improvement Content/Knowledge Reflects a deep understanding of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night . Several connections between the play and the project are evident. Reflects somewhat of an understanding of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night . Connections between the play and the project are mostly clear but need more development. Project does not reflect an understanding of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night . Connections between the play and the project are nonexistent or inaccurate. Attention to Theme Every item included in the project is thematically related to Twelfth Night. For most items, the relationship is clear without explanation. Items in the project are thematically relevant to Twelfth Night , but for some items the relationship may require some explanation. The items included in the project do not have a clear thematic relationship to Twelfth Night . It is difficult to understand the relationship of the items. Creativity/Artistry Creative/artistic portion of the project is polished and reflects quality workmanship in terms of design and creativity. There is a clear attention to detail. Creative/artistic portion of the project contains a few mistakes in content that do not interfere with meaning, but make the project seem unfinished. Creative/artistic portion of the project contains multiple mistakes in content, or is messy or unclear. It looks more like a rough draft than a final copy. Commitment Much time and effort went into the planning and design of this project. It is clear that the student was completely committed to seeing this project through from beginning to end. Class time was not always used wisely but the student showed some commitment to working on the project at home. The project does not demonstrate additional effort or commitment to the project. Class time was not used wisely. Presentation Students/Group clearly explains how the project and the play are connected. Command of language and voice are apparent and eyecontact is evident. It seems as though the student is in command of the material. Students/Group presentation is somewhat clear but contains weak control of language, voice, and body language. Student does not seem completely prepared for the presentation. Students/Group is unprepared or unwilling to present the project to the class. Numerous weak language choices and mistakes in grammar and content may occur.
