September 28, 2015 Meeting Minutes
A motion to call the meeting to order was made by Mike Sweet, Second by Scott Mobley

Review and approval of minutes from the August 31, 2015 meeting
Move to approve by Clyde Callen, Second by Scott Mobley.

Sammy Morrison asked to address the members. He spoke asking us, the parents, to encourage, push, and
inspire the kids to keep on doing what they’re doing. He thanked everyone for all that they do for the kids
because without us, the kids wouldn’t be able to do it.
Director’s Reports:
From Mr. Autry:
Don’t forget to sign up for Remind101 – simply text @sangerband to 81010 to receive the band reminders.
As of date, only 67 Branson trip forms have been turned in – so far 67 kids going and 16 chaperones. Whether
or not your child is going, a form needs to be turned in. If you have not turned one in, please do so
immediately.
The bands next performance will be on October 9th at the football game against Dallas Carter. The band will
be taking charter buses to this game. The plan is to leave for dinner and the game before school is out. An
itinerary will be sent out soon.
Next competition is Saturday, October 10th in Ponder. Believes, but can’t remember for sure, that the band
performs around 12:30ish and finals will be from 3-5pm. Tentative plan is to meet at the band hall around
10:30am and be home by 7ish.
Another competition will be on Saturday, October 17th – UIL. The band is schedule to perform around
12:45ish. This is a non-advancing year, which means no finals.
Mrs. Thornburg:
Update on 6th grade band: The kids tested last Friday on Jingle Bells – 98% of them actually sounded like the
song. Kids are progressing well.
Treasurer’s Report:
We are $325 short on pink plume fundraiser. Please keep encouraging people to make a donation in honor of
someone.
So far this year, the concession stand has a $7,183.26 profit.
Committee Reports
Concession Stand Committee –
Donella Callen, chair, thanked everyone who has volunteered to work in the concession stand. Advised
that she will be calling people who have signed up for 1st shift of upcoming game to see if they’ll cover
1st shift of October 30th game instead. Also advised that her goal is to finish the football season with a
$10,000+ profit.
Loading Crew/Transportation –
Wendy Callen, chair, advised that we have the best loading crew ever this year and thanked all those
ho help out week after week. She advised that they are currently trying to get the HUB’s fixed on the
trailer. Mr. Autry is going to contact the superintendent to make arrangements for payment of the parts.
Jimmy Banks is going to be doing the repairs but the ISD is paying for the parts.
New Business:
Discussion and of upcoming Senior Night - A meal will be served with the 8th graders joining the high school
kids, followed by cupcakes for dessert and senior speeches. It was suggested to have Michelle Wheeler,
chair, to check with the local bakery, Stilettos, for a quote on cupcakes. With no further suggestions,
comments, questions, or concerns being brought up regarding Senior night – moving on to the next item of
discussion.
Christmas Fundraiser (Bucket Raffle) – Will be held during the Christmas concert on December 15th. Need
people/volunteers to help work on donations. If you are interested or have donation contacts, please let
Michelle Wheeler know. With no comments, questions, or concerns regarding the Christmas fundraiser being
brought up – moving on to the next item of discussion.
Poinsettia Sales – This year a fresh wreath is going to be added to the sales along with poinsettias. The price
of the poinsettias are increasing by $3 up to $25 each and the wreaths will be sold for $30 each. The
fundraiser will start on October 19th and order forms turned in no later than November 3rd. The poinsettias and
wreaths will be delivered the first week of December. It has been suggested that 40% of all sales go towards
the kids trip fund. Breakdown of cost/prices is still being finalized but each kid will receive a trip fund credit of
$10 each item sold. No comments, questions, or concerns were brought up regarding poinsettia sales –
moving on to the next item on the agenda.
Floor was opened up for any comments:
Elizabeth Muir advised that the uniform committee will start fitting girls for dresses soon and thanked those
who was uniforms.
Blair Davilla advised that she has not had an opportunity to talk to Danny Sullivan at WalMart regarding them
donating a pallet/skid of water to the band or about any other type of donation but asked that someone else do
it as she just does not have the time right now.
Reminders:
Don’t forget about the upcoming games and competitions. Make sure everyone comes out and supports the
band.
Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 26, 2015 at 7pm in the band hall.
With no other business needing to be discussed and no other comments, questions, or concerns needing to be
addressed, a motion to adjourn the meeting was made.
