Guatemala
In Guatemala 65% of the population have Mayan origins. Mayan people are very fond of and continue their
old traditions dating all the way back to the preHispanic era in the year 2,000 b.c.
However, due to economical necessities, modern
communication and multiculturalism, Mayan civilization has had to modernize, leaving behind valuable
heritage and land looking for opportunities of subsistence elsewhere.
A way of preserving and rescuing this rich culture,
which is still alive and present in Guatemala, is making
it known. For this reason and thanks to our invitation
made by the Mill Creek Rotary Club to participate in
their annual auction, we feel proud to present Guatemalan culture.

Indigenous people are very good artisans, specially when it
comes to working with textiles. They produce their own threads
with antique methods and elaborate their clothes, which are
unique in the world. They make drawings with historical symbolic meanings of their gods, religious beliefs, family history, all
based on nature.
The following catalogue shows this rich culture
with products created with pieces of their clothing
like the huipil, belts, rebozos, chachales and many
other items used in their daily lives.
