SUMMARY:WMSprinkmanprovidesproductinaccordancewithacustomer’sspecificationsandthepricequoted
iscloselytiedtoestimatedcost.ReportingtotheChiefFinancialOfficer,theCostAccountantroleistomaintainand
controljobcostbycollectingandrecordingdirectcosts(materials,laborandsubcontractservices)andallocating
indirectcostsusingasoundapplicationmethodology.Projectcostreportscomparingactualcoststo-datevs.
estimatedcostsaswellasforecastedcostsaredistributedmonthly.Reportingiscriticaltokeepingtheproject
managerandmanagementawareofeachproject’sprogressaswellassoundanalertwhencostoverrunswillleadto
reducedprofitability.
ESSENTIALDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIESincludethefollowing:
•
Establishandmaintaincustomerprojectsintheaccountingsystemincludingproject(job)estimate,contract
andchangeorderinformationutilizingdatafromthequote,salesorder,purchaseordersandprojectmanager
updates
•
Recordactualjobcostsbaseduponmaterialssupplierinvoices,payrolllaborreports,serviceproviderbillings
andfieldinstallationexpensereports.
•
Analyzefactoryoverheadcostdriversanddevelopamethodologyforallocatingthesecoststospecificjobs.
MonitoractualversusabsorbedfactoryoverheadonamonthlybasisandtogetherwiththeChiefFinancial
Officer(“CFO”),determineiftheallocationmethodologyshouldbeadjusted.
•
Calculateandmonitorstandardcostsforinventoryvaluation,projectestimatingandjobcostingpurposes.
Reviewstockagingfordeterminationofobsoleteand/orexcessinventorywriteoff.
•
Performmonth-endaccountingactivitiessuchascloseoutcompletedcustomerprojects(jobs)byensuringall
material,laborandoutsideservicecostsarerecorded,reconcilinginventoryandrelatedreservebalancesto
thegeneralledger,andanalyzingvariancesandcostofgoodssold.Coordinatetheseactivitieswiththe
FinancialAccountantinsupportoftimelyissuanceoffinancialstatements.
•
Createanddistributedetailedmonthlyjobcostreportstoprojectmanagerswhichincludeactualand
estimatedcoststo-dateaswellasprojectionstocomplete.CommunicateprojectcompletionratestotheCFO
tofacilitatetimelyandaccurateprogressbillingtocustomers.
•
ProvidefinancialsupporttootherfunctionalareasoftheCompany:
o
Manufacturing-workswiththeplantmanagerandproductionstafftoidentifycostsavingsprojects,
analyzesandforecaststheimpactonthecoststructureifimplemented,andassistsinthe
developmentofthebusinesscase-cost-benefitanalysisforcapitalinvestments
o
InventoryControl–investigatesinventoryadjustmentsresultingfromperiodiccyclecountsand
annualphysicalinventory
o
Purchasing-analyzespurchasepricevariances&monitorsmaterialpricetrendstosupportprice
negotiationswithvendors

SUPERVISORYRESPONSIBILITIES:
• None
REQUIREDQUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’sdegreeinAccounting,FinanceorBusinessAdministrationrequired.
• 3-6yearsdemonstratedexperienceworkingincostaccounting,reporting,andcrossteamcollaboration
withinamanufacturingenvironmentrequired.Jobcostexperienceaplus.
• Excellentanalyticalandreasoningskills,plusexcellentorganizationskillsrequired.
• KnowledgeofERPandaccountingsystems;experiencewithMicrosoftOfficeSuiterequired.MAS200or
SAGE100experienceishighlydesirable.
• Excellentverbalandwrittencommunicationskills.
LANGUAGESKILLS:Goodgrammaranddiction.Abilitytoreadandcomprehendsimpleinstructions,short
correspondence,andmemos.Abilitytowritesimplecorrespondence.Abilitytoeffectivelypresentinformation
inone-on-oneandsmallgroupsituationstootheremployeesoftheorganization.
MATHEMATICALSKILLS:Abilitytoadd,subtract,multiply,anddivideinallunitsofmeasure,usingwhole
numbers,commonfractions,percentanddecimals.
