String Snowman

String Snowman
What you will need:
Round balloons (size 7 & 9)
White glue
White crochet thread (size 10)
Red pom-pom for nose (1/4 inch)
Black pom-poms for mouth (7 mm)
Black pom-poms for tummy (1/4 inch)
7 inch Styrofoam circle for base
Ribbon for scarf
2-15 mm moveable eyes
Blow up the balloons to make two different size balls. You
do not have to blow them up to capacity. Just make sure
they are round and not egg-shaped. (Parents are good for
this part.)
Pour glue into a disposable dish such as a pie pan. Take
the string and cover with glue. The easiest way to do this is
to dip your fingers in the glue and slide the string through
the glue as you place the string on the balloon. Make sure
you wrap the glue-covered string in different directions.
Keep wrapping the string on the balloon until you have the
balloon completely covered or have very little of the balloon
showing through. Set the balloon aside to dry over night.
When completely dry, the string will form a hard shell. With
a pin or sharp object, puncture the balloon. You can pull
the balloon through a hole in the hardened string.
Have your parent or an adult help you hot glue the two
balls together. Hot glue the snowman to the styrofoam
base. Now you can decorate your snowman. You can
paint your snowman with crystal or white glitter paint. You
can also make “snow” by whipping Ivory Flakes  and
water together to place around the base. Add eyes, nose,
mouth, pom-pom buttons and scarf.
