NJM Official Named to Boards of Directors
of Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the Highway Data Loss Institute
WEST TRENTON, NJ — May 24, 2016 — NJM Insurance Company, one of New Jersey’s leading automobile insurers,
announced today that its Public Affairs Director, John W. Hardiman, has been elected to serve a three-year term on the
Boards of Directors of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the Highway Data Loss Institute (HDLI). An
industry veteran who has been with NJM for more than 20 years, Hardiman joins the leadership of these two safetydriven organizations that are wholly supported by auto insurers and insurance associations.
Founded in 1959, IIHS is an independent, nonprofit scientific and educational organization whose mission is to reduce
deaths, injuries and property damage from crashes on the nation's roads. HDLI, which was organized as an IIHS affiliate
in 1972, shares and supports this mission through scientific studies of insurance data representing the human and
economic losses resulting from the ownership and operation of different types of vehicles and by publishing insurance
loss results categorized by vehicle make and model.
“IIHS and HLDI are proud to have such well-respected supporters as NJM Insurance Group,” IIHS and HLDI President,
Adrian Lund said. “We look forward to working more closely with John and welcome him to both of our Boards of
Directors.”
“For decades, the auto insurance industry has consistently turned to IIHS and HDLI to help find solutions that prevent
motor vehicle crashes, reduce the level of injuries in these accidents, and gather data that help consumers make
informed choices when purchasing automobiles,” said Mike Van Wagner, Vice President of Public Affairs for NJM. “John
brings to these Boards a seasoned viewpoint on highway safety, especially in New Jersey. As a Company founded more
than 100 years ago to help policyholders reduce losses through proactive loss-prevention efforts, his election to these
boards further supports NJM’s enduring commitment to safety. “
