Discendi Simul Learning Together 3rd March 2014 Head Teacher: Anthony David Deputy Head Teacher: Jo Smith Dear Families During this week the school will be changing the image of its website. We hope you like the new design and some of the new features. http://www.stpaulsnw7.barnet.sch.uk Nowadays websites are the main portal of information for schools to families and to reflect that, we have included a far wider range of information about the school than before. Our Governors’ section has expanded to include all policies and more information about the types of governor roles. There is also a new section called 'reports' that includes all school based reports (not just OFSTED documents) that either support judgements about the school, or help explain the impact of school initiatives. Much remains that is familiar, such as the weekly news letter or year group topic letters and the site has been designed to be easy to navigate. I'd like to thank Lisa Bub who has put many hours of time into developing the new site and Mike Roberts (Vice-Chair of the School Governors) who has helped greatly with the transfer from the old site to this new one. Our aim is to expand this site over time and where new reports or new sections are added I will inform you. Regards Anthony David 500 Words Well done to all the children who have submitted a story to the 500 Words competition. A number of parents have emailed their child's story to the school office, thank you. As you may recall we are aiming to develop a book with Scholastic Publication (who publish the Gruffalo book and Horrible Histories) as a compilation of this years 500 word entrants. If your child was unable to enter the competition but would still like their book published by Scholastic then they have until the end of this week to email their story to school. Equally, we will be contacting parents of children who have written a story to ask for their child's story to be emailed to school. St Paul’s CE Primary School The Ridgeway, Mill Hill, London, NW7 1QU Telephone: 020 8959 3412 NSPCC Last Friday Caroline, from the NSPCC, returned to the school to thank the children for their huge effort made in raising money for the NSPCC. The children collectively rose over £2700 which will be used to help support a range of NSPCC projects. Frankly we were all stunned and humbled by the children's response. Well done. World Book Day World book day is this Thursday, 6th March. As usual we will be giving out the WBD book vouchers which can be used in any book shop. To mark this day we are asking children to send in images of them reading in their favourite places (or in crazy places). My favourite place, as a child, to read was in the Ash Tree that grew in my garden. Coming from a big family it wasn't always easy to find a quiet spot but I always could in the old Ash. It was there that I read the Narnia Chronicles and Little Grey Men - wonderful books and happy memories. Persian New Year Thursday 20th March is Persian New Year. I'd like to thank Nazli who will be coming in to explain about this to the children in assembly on Monday 24th March. If other parents would like to come in and talk about their home country or about a special time of year then please let me or the office know. Lotto Quiz Night The church is holding a lotto quiz night on Saturday 26th April at 7.30pm. Tickets (over 18s only) cost £5 per person which includes refreshments and a glass of wine. Tickets are available from Coffee Pot. Coffee Pot Please would parents not leave their children unaccompanied in Coffee Pot before school.
