National Library Week was celebrated in several ways in the library branches, one of which
was the Book Float Contest. Participation in the Contest was significantly less this year.
Because of the association with National Library Week, the timing is the second week of April
which coincides with state testing in the schools. This makes it tough for teachers to commit to
anything extra. Juniper had 3 floats, Fraser Valley had 28, Granby had 12 (9 were created by the
Granby Rec children while they were at the after school programs), Hot Sulphur Springs had 3,
and Kremmling received 48.


The Granby staff, Matt Sutton and Jeanie have started to make changes to the layout of the
Granby Library floor plan. They have created more meeting and programming space in the
Youth area and shifted the collection in the Children’s area to give easier access to the books.

Sulphur Springs

The Colorado Legislature will be approving an adjustment to the Residential Assessment Rate
(RAR) of 7.2% from the current 7.96%. The adjustment to the state constitution was triggered
by the Gallagher Amendment. The initial 2017 property tax revenues from the Grand County
Assessor indicate a greater growth than previously anticipated. This will help offset the impact
of the income loss from the RAR. Adjusted figures for 2018 will be available from the Grand
County Assessor in August.

staff are positive

manager, LastPass, and updated security procedures. Overall feedback was positive; minor
adjustments were made to ease specific concern
On 4/21, Anthony performed a critical update to the gcld.org site, which broke a few things –
the articles and online resources content types. Anthony instituted temporary workarounds,
then resolved all issues by 4/24.
Phone call with Century Link rep to remove phone lines that the District no longer needs
(because of VOIP install) and remove the "extras" from remaining lines (fax and security lines,
which do not require caller ID or call forwarding). The CL rep also included the District in
special pricing negotiated for Colorado government and non-profit organizations.
5 LIBRARY RESOURCES

Jeanie and Sarah are taking an online class, 5-Essential Components for Creating a Highly
Collaborative Community-Centered Library. The focus is on "turning outward," a way of stating
a vision of meeting clearly identified and vetted community needs, expectations, and values.
They've worked on the "Why the library exists," "What we believe in," " and "What are the
library values." Then they held conversations with several with a tool used by the Harwood
Institute, the Ask questions. The gist of the questions were to find the values, vision, and needs
of the community members.

They met with Mayor Chavoustie and discussed his vision for Granby and were taken on a
personal tour of the Shorefox property. More discussion "kitchen conversations" are needed,
but the hope is to be able to ascertain the values and needs of Grand County communities and
position the District so that we can be a key player in addressing those needs, desires, and
values.

Sarah attended a webinar on 21st century readers' advisory.

Both circulation and patron count continued to decline in April.
5.1 OPAC/VUFIND


Lynda records were loaded into Pika so that patrons searching the catalog can now find more of
our online resources.
Subscribed to NuWav legal documents, available on gcld.org, where patrons can customize, fill

which will replace the NOLA collection in the branches.

60 days to the minute! Who would have thought it was so precise! Thank you for all of your help. I
