1.Using the Triangle ruler, cut four Cones from the
4" x 14" piece. Make sure blunt end lins up with
top of strip.

extends beyond Cone at top,

If you don't have a Triangle Ruler, trace on template
plastic. Mark lines and cut with ruler.

2.Layer two pairs of 2H" x 5" Background rectangles
wrong sides together. This is essential for mirror
imaging.
8.Place remaining Background triangle to the right
of the Cone. Flip right sides together, line the top
tip of both pieces together, and sew.
3.Layer cut on one diagonal. Sort right side up.

4.Lay out Cone with base at the bottom. Position
Background triangles on each side of Cone.

Press seam to Background.
10. Place on small cutting mat.
11.Line up red triangle line on Triangle in a Square
ruler with seams. Trim on all four sides, squaring
patch to 3H". Turn cutting mat as you trim. If you
do not have a Triangle in a Square Ruler, square to
3H". Leave G" at tip.
5.Trim to J". Clip inside
curves to stitching.
6.Cut a small slit in the
middle of the fusible.
Turn right side out.
Completing the Block
1.Sew the 2H" x 5" Background piece to
each side of the Cone.
2.
Press seams away from Cone.
Making Three Ice Cream Scoops
1.Trace the Ice Cream Scoop pattern on template
plastic, and cut out.
3.Sew the
3H" x 6H"
Background
piece to the top
of the Cone.
2.Trace four Ice Cream Scoops onto the smooth side
of the lightweight fusible interfacing. Leave H"
between Scoops. Rough-cut apart.
3.Place Scoop with fusible side of interfacing against
right side of fabric.
4.If necessary,
square sides.
5.
Center the Scoops on top of each Cone.
6.Applique around outside edges by machine or by
hands. Sew a decorative stitch on top of Scoop.
7.Sew patches
together.
4.Sew on the lines with
20 stitches per inch.
