Dorothy, LeBron and the
Feeling for Home
D
orothy felt it. So did LeBron. The powerful feeling
of wanting to go home.
In the movie The Wizard of Oz,
Dorothy clicked her ruby red heels
and whispered, “There is no place
like home”. LeBron James, the best
professional basketball player on
the planet who could play anywhere and at any salary, chose to
go back home to play.
John Ed Pearce once wrote, “Home
is a place you grow up wanting
to leave, and grow old wanting to
get back to.” Why is that? Why do
the John Ed Pearces, the Dorothys,
the LeBrons, and so many of us at a
certain age feel the compelling desire
to return home? To me, home is a
“feeling” more than a “place”. I felt it
when it was time to start raising my
own family. It was time to return to
where I felt safe, secure, comfort and
love.
I’m not alone, “the ache for home
lives in all of us” wrote Maya Angelou. There are many who live away
who wish they could return to this
area, if only the right opportunity
presented itself.
I was fortunate. There was an opportunity waiting for me upon my

and a Girl Scout volunteer. When she is
not working, Sue enjoys spending time
with family and friends, boating, fishing
and riding ATVs.
Sue tells us she enjoys working for PSC
because it is a small, local company
focused on bringing quality services
to our rural communities. And, she
enjoys working alongside friends and
neighbors.
Connection
return. Sadly though, this isn’t always the case. Many organizations and individuals
are working hard, however, in trying to create an environment where opportunities
can someday be the norm, not the exception. At PSC, we are trying to do our part. Any
business leader or economic development exec will tell you a “must have” to attract
new companies, or grow existing ones, is access to a high-speed broadband network
and the technology that travels across it. This is a key reason why PSC has expanded
its network regionally to surrounding communities and economic development areas.
It’s that important!
PSC is proud of the role we are playing within our region to boost economic development and support our existing businesses. Hundreds of companies and corporations
are operating more efficiently and greatly benefiting from our high-speed fiber optic
network. Hopefully these very companies are working hard at creating opportunities
for others. Perhaps, for that someone who is ready to come home.

ALL CUSTOMERS WITH INDIANA 812 AREA CODE MUST
DIAL AREA CODE + TELEPHONE NUMBER FOR
ALL LOCAL CALLS
DEADLINE DATE
TO BE DETERMINED
To ensure a continuing supply of telephone numbers, the new 930 area
code will be added to the area served by 812. This is known as an area
code overlay. Get ready to change the way you dial your local calls!
What will be the new dialing procedure? To complete local
calls, the new dialing procedure requires callers to dial area code +
telephone number. This means that all calls in the 812 area code that are
currently dialed with seven digits will need to be dialed using area code
+ telephone number. The same dialing procedure will apply to telephone
numbers assigned to the new 930 area code.
