For Immediate Release BRYAN ADAMS at GLENBOW Calgary, AB (December 4, 2013) - Glenbow is pleased to announce Exposed, an exhibition of Bryan Adams’ photography, as part of our winter 2014 season. In addition, Bryan Adams will be at Glenbow on February 22 as the feature presenter for Schmancy 2014, Glenbow’s annual signature fundraiser. EXPOSED EXHIBITION February 23 – May 4, 2014 Exposed features photographs from two distinct areas of Adams’ photographic practice. The first features portraits of his friends and colleagues in the entertainment, fashion and art industries, including Morrissey, Ben Kingsley, Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson, Louise Bourgeois and Judi Dench to name a few. The portraits in this series reveal unknown facets of his famous subjects and the depth of Adams’ own photographic abilities. The second group of images featured in Exposed is portraits of young British soldiers who have suffered lifechanging injuries in Iraq and Afghanistan or during training. In these images, the lens bears witness to the soldiers’ scars, disability and disfigurement with unexpected directness, while revealing the grit and bravery of these soldiers who, despite personal sacrifice, live each day with continued vim, vigour and dignity. Adams has exhibited his work across Europe and North America and has had three books of his works published: Wounded: The Legacy of War, Exposed and American Women. FEATURE PRESENTER at SCHMANCY 2014 PRESENTED BY ENBRIDGE Saturday, February 22, 2014 Schmancy guests will be treated to a Q + A style presentation with Bryan Adams in which he will discuss his photography. Later guests will get an advance viewing of Bryan Adams’ exhibition Exposed the evening before it opens to the public. Schmancy 2014 Presented by Enbridge is the must-attend, sure-to-sell-out, event of the year. It’s a non-gala gala that turns the concept of fundraiser on its head. Support Glenbow in a night of arts and culture and look fabulously posh doing it. Maclean's Magazine recently named Schmancy one of the top “Power Parties in Canada,” calling it a fundraiser that “….matters most to the country’s power brokers – and those that long to be near them.” Schmancy was the only exclusively Western Canadian event featured in the publication's Power Issue.
