St. Luke’s Hospice invites the
School Choir
Another very busy week at school with all of the end of term Christmas activities
going on. The Christmas fair has been and gone, the Year 4 production has finished,
we’ve had the music concert ‘Winter Serenade’, Christmas lunch and a special
‘Living Years’ assembly today followed by a pantomime in school for the children on
Tuesday. We’ve all been busy bees here.
Year 4 Production—Pictures of a Christmas World.
On Tuesday, Year 4 had their Christmas production ‘Pictures of a Christmas World’.
All of the children in Year 4 took part and they showed some of the different traditions of how Christmas is celebrated throughout the world. There was acting, singing and dancing and the Year 4 children really enjoyed showing off their skills to
their friends and parents. They acted their hearts out. They have tried really hard to
learn their lines and sing with gusto and joy and their enthusiasm rubbed off on the
audience. They looked at the traditions in Poland, Germany, France, Australia, Mexico, Canada, Russia and Britain to name but a few.
Winter Serenade—Music Concert on Thursday.
On Thursday the school held a Music concert which we called ‘Winter Serenade’.
The children who play in the orchestra and sing in the choir performed for the
school and their parents.
There were 2 concerts, one at 1:45 and a second one at 2:45 lasting about 45
minutes each. We usually have so many parents who would like to come and
watch so we decided to redo the concert twice so that we can fit everyone in.
The concerts are a really good way to showcase the children performing to an audience. The choir meets regularly once a week to practice and has worked very hard
to learn all of the songs. The orchestra also meets once a
week to practice and it is very good for the children that
learn instruments to play with other children to help perfect
their musical skills.

London Hospice Charity
22nd December 2016 to
4th January
2017
As you may have read in previous newsletters Mrs Crossland, one our Year 5
teachers has been involved with a charity single called the ‘Living Years’ featuring
Mike from Mike and the Mechanics. Friday (16th Dec) is the official launch day and
it then becomes possible to download the track from itunes / amazon etc for 99p.
All of the profits are going to the London Hospice movement.
inclusive.
To help launch the single there is a special assembly on Friday where members of
the hospice movement are coming to speak to the children about the work that
the hospice does. Mrs Crossland is linked to our local hospice, St Luke’s. The children have learnt the song and will be singing it for themselves on Friday.
They have also asked for our help. On Tuesday 20th December the KPJS choir have
been invited to sing at St Georges centre in Harrow whilst volunteers from St
Luke’s wrap presents for shoppers to help raise extra funds for the hospice. I feel
that this is a great honour for the school and a very worthy cause.

Year 5 Football Success.

Address.
The Year 5 football team, (team A and Team B), took part in a football tournament at Park High School
Yesterday. They played in Park’s sport hall against strong opposition from Whitchurch and Priestmead.
The first match was Team A against Whitchurch. And the score was 3-1 to Whitchurch. Then Kenmore
A played Kenmore B and Kenmore A won 2-0. There were further matches against Priestmead and
Whitchurch. Unfortunately the last game of the tournament was Kenmore B against Whitchurch. Up
to the last few seconds Kenmore B were in the lead but then Whitchurch were awarded a penalty for a
high overhead throw. The whistle then blew to end the game but Whitchurch still had to take their
penalty. Ouch!!! - they scored and that was the last kick of the tournament.
Priestmead won every game except for the game that they drew with Kenmore A
The final results were Priestmead came first, Kenmore B came second, Kenmore A third and
Whitchurch last. This report was generated by Adam and Aidan– 5MW + 5LOC
Well done football team.
Planet Earth 2
Mrs Thomas, Class 5BT tweeted (@KenmoreParkJnr) that the children really enjoyed watching Planet Earth 2 as part of their learning. She was then contacted by Elizabeth White, the
shows producer. Yesterday the class held a Face time question and answer session with Elizabeth White where the children were able to ask her questions about her experiences.
Elizabeth White, a producer for BBC’s Planet Earth 2, kindly carried out an amazing
FaceTime question and answer session with 5BT. It was a real honour to chat to
her. The children and staff were in awe and are now truly inspired to follow in her
footsteps. The knowledge and experiences she shared with us about the animals
and climates she has worked with were phenomenal! She has also very generously
given David Attenborough a letter from the class too. It was a fantastic, once in a
life time experience that we are all grateful for.
