Head teachers Comment.
Charity is something that is part of our lives but money, cash, is NOT the only thing that
can be of benefit to others. The Family of Christ the King are very generous and always
rise to the occasion when asked for help, this year we are going to again collect food for
the Harvest Festival in October and donate to St. Andrew’s food bank and in November
we will give out bags and ask for old clothing, shoes, linen etc which will be sold to aid
the Round Table’s Children’s Wish Charity.
Families and our School have benefited from both of these charities so it is extra special
to be able to help.

we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed”

CONTACT DETAILS
If you are starting a college course or new job, or going away for a few days, it
is VITAL that you leave a current emergency contact number in case of accidents for the school to use.
Despite the data update sheets, there are pupils here with only one or two
contact numbers; having a third contact that keeps their phone on / doesn't
change their number every month, would be very helpful in the case of an
emergency.
NEW UNIFORM
Please can you ensure that all of your child’s uniform, including shoes are named. We already have quite a collection in lost property and shoes missing from KS2!
I also expect every child to bring in a coat everyday, we still
go out to play if it is showery as long as the children have a
coat on.
School Nurse Drop-in
Our school nurse is changing her drop-in time to 3pm to
see if more parents would find this time slot easier.
Her next appointment with us is
WEDNESDAY 12th October at 3pm.
No appointment necessary, just come to
Reception.
The Blitz in Year 6!
Year 6 visited Nothe Fort as evacuees on Thursday 15th September. We
learnt about what life was like for children during WWII. We experienced
schooling, which included frightening discipline, as well as shopping with
rationing cards and even being a house wife learning how all the cooking
and cleaning would have been done. It was very tiring!
Year 4 Trip to Dorchester to learn more about the Romans.
The staff at the museum remarked on the excellent behaviour of our
children.
We looked at real Roman artefacts and some children tried on a real
Roman centurion's helmet.
Now the classes are going to make some mosaic patterns just like
the Romans did.
More photos can be seen on the Year 4 class web pages.
SEPTEMBER 2016 - 10 months into the Year of Mercy
There was great excitement and rejoicing on
September 4th as a new Saint was canonized: Saint Teresa,
formerly known as Mother Teresa. Born in 1910, she was
the founder of the Order of the Missionaries of Charity, a
Roman Catholic congregation of women dedicated to
helping the poor. She dies in 1997 and was considered
one of the greatest humanitarians of the 20th century.
She was canonized as Saint Teresa of Calcutta. There are
many famous quotes from Saint Teresa, one for us to reflect on today is this:
“ Holiness is not the luxury of a few. It is everyone’s duty, yours and mine.”
The work of Saint Teresa of Calcutta leads me to reflect on the life and work of
those called to the religious life.
Some people are called to a unique life of prayer and solitude within the context
of religious life. In particular, there are those called to the eremitical life or the
cloister. These holy souls are separated from the world and spend their days in
quiet prayer and work. But what value does this life have to the world? This is
an important question to understand. From a worldly point of view, they add little to society. They may be looked upon with curiosity and intrigue, offering inspiration and admiration, but little more is rarely understood of their life. Never
underestimate the incredible value of these holy vocations. Their life of hidden
prayer and sacrifice brings delight to the Heart of our Lord and is a constant
source of His Mercy in the world. In fact, without these holy souls, the world
would be in grave danger. Through their lives of prayer and sacrifice the Lord
withholds much of His judgment and issues Mercy in its place
(See Diary #1434).
Lord, I thank you for the gift of those holy souls called to lives of solitude and
prayer. Please sanctify them in their vocation and help them to win many souls
for Your Kingdom. I pray that their witness and vocation will inspire many in an
interior life of prayer. Jesus, I trust in You.
