 NORTHERN LIGHTS YOUTH GRANT APPLICATION SECTION A) GRANT INFORMATION: I. Purpose: The purpose of the Northern Lights Grant is to provide youth with the opportunity to become actively engaged and involved within their community through small grants to create unique projects that are designed to build a sense of community and encourage neighbourliness. II. Grant Inclusion: Northern Lights small grants are: • Between $50 and $500 • Granted year round • Reviewed by a committee of local youth SECTION B) PROJECT IDEAS: Projects are as diverse as the residents who live in the North of McKnight communities! Here are a few project ideas to get you started: These ideas include (not limited to): • Basketball tournament • Bake Sale • Jelly Bean Dances • Outdoor Film Nights • Park clean up days • Community Garden • Community murals • Neighbourhood discussion circles • Block Party • Other project ideas are also eligible-­‐ get creative! A PROGRAM OF 1 SECTION C) GRANT CRITERIA: I. Guidelines: Here is a guideline of who may be eligible for the Northern Light’s Grant: • Participant must be a resident within Calgary more specifically residents within the communities of Castleridge, Coral Springs, Falconridge, Martindale, Saddle Ridge, Sky View Ranch and Taradale. • Desired project idea must directly benefit multiple groups of youth who live in Calgary or the surrounding area • Participants must be of or under the age of 18 years old. • Projects must be planned and implemented by youth. Priority is given to youth-­‐initiated projects, although adult support is welcome. • We give projects up to $500 per school year • Project must be independent, meaning funds cannot be passed onto another organization. II. Grant Exclusion: Northern Lights do NOT provide grant funds for: • For profit ventures or individuals • Conference fees or tuition costs for individuals or groups • Residents outside of the communities of Castleridge, Coral Springs, Falconridge, Martindale, Saddle Ridge, Sky View Ranch and Taradale.
