Make links to the WSCC forward business plan, 2|Page West Sussex Youth Cabinet Minutes Meeting with Cabinet lead for each area to discuss business plan and enable young people to have their voice heard on decision that impact on them Youth Cabinet voted on making this part of their role with 29 voting in favour, making this part of their role. Model 2 Safeguarding Ambassadors This is a virtual group who represent young people in West Sussex on issues of their safety and wellbeing. They will be responsible for gathering in information from range of young people’s groups about whats important to them about their safety and ensuring their concerns are raised with the adult safeguarding board This will be managed by the Youth Cabinet being the lead in gathering the information, collating it and feeding it into the quarterly board meetings to enable young people to have a voice and influence on the board Youth Cabinet voted on making this part of their role with 29 voting in favour, making this part of their role. Model 3 Develop campaigns from Make Your Mark Results, Over 7,286 young people across West Sussex voted on The Make Your Mark ballot gives young people a say on what is discussed by their Members of Youth Parliament (MYPs) in their annual House of Commons debate. The five topics that received the most votes in 2014 were 1. Living wage 2. Resit in maths and English 3. Work experience 4. Votes at 16 5. Mental Health Services Youth Cabinet voted on making this part of their role with 34 voting in favour, making this part of their role. Model 4 Youth Cabinet to link in with UK Youth Parliament campaigns in the MYP constituencies areas In November MYP choose their campaigns for the year in the annual Houses of Common sitting. These include: 1. Living Wage, Everyone should be paid at least the Living Wage of £7.65 per hour (£8.80 in London). Anyone who works, regardless of age, should have a decent standard of living. 2. Mental health services should be improved with our help. We should all learn about common mental health issues at school and negative Youth Cabinet voted against making this part of their role with only 3 voting in favour, this will not form part of their role. 7.35pm Communication How are we going to communication as a group? • • • • Email Letter Texts Social media 3|Page West Sussex Youth Cabinet Minutes The group were happy to receive information in any way.
