Julie Shifman

Julie Shifman Julie Shifman is an inspirational, award winning, speaker, author and
business owner. Julie believes in every woman’s ability to challenge herself and to grow as Julie
herself continues to do. She started her career as a professional ballet dancer and then became a
highly successful lawyer in New York City and in Cincinnati before founding her company Act
Three in 2008. She is also a certified coach and an adjunct professor of business law at Xavier
University. She recently received the prestigious Athena award by Cincy Magazine and was
named as a Woman to Watch by The Cincinnati Enquirer.
Julie Shifman energizes women to live their best lives. She challenges her audience to Imagine a
changed life by using her own personal story of Imagining and changing; from ballerina… to law
partner… to stay at home mother… to business owner. And Julie shares that Imagining alone is
not enough. It’s the combination of Imagining and then the Doing that creates the magic.
Julie speaks with passion, humor, and heart as she energizes women to both Imagine what’s next
for them and then to take one small step at a time as they Do It. Not satisfied to just inspire her
audience to imagine, she calls upon them to act. Each audience member is encouraged to leave
with a written commitment to move forward towards achieving their goals.

Julie Shifman Presentations:
Imagine…Then Do It.
In Julie’s signature talk, her message challenges
women to open their minds to the endless possibilities that can result in a fulfilling
next act. She begins by granting them permission to dream again, as Julie finds that
too many women have buried their dreams in some dark closet. Sometimes that means
rediscovering old dreams that have gone dormant over the years, and sometimes it
means imagining new dreams. But her message doesn’t end with the imagining, she
also provides practical advice on how to actually begin the journey towards fulfilling
those dreams. As Julie says “Imagining without the doing is just daydreaming.”
Using her own personal story, interspersed with the video stories of the many
remarkable women she has interviewed, she challenges women to take a personal
inventory. For shorter time period, this talk can be divided in two, with one talk about
Imagining and one talk about Doing.
Values Leads to Happiness.
All of today’s research tells us that if we want
to be happy, we must live our life with gratitude, practice forgiving, seek to do acts of
kindness, take care of the soul and invest in strong relationships; all directly tied to
our values. In this talk Julie shares the keys to living a values based, happy life. This
talk can be tailored specifically for Jewish Women’s Groups.
Get in Change Shape and Build Change Muscles. We all know
that it’s impossible to wake up one day and just decide to run a marathon... Our bodies
would give up in the first few miles because our muscles simply weren’t in shape to
tackle this challenge. And yet, we expect to be able to tackle major change in our
lives with no practice, no training, or no preparation. So when some major change
happens to us - and it always does in today’s fast-paced world - we struggle just like a
couch-potato-turned-marathoner. Julie believes that most of us are basically out of
Change Shape, but that we can, in fact, Build our Change Muscles to handle this
change with confidence, ease and grace. Julie motivates her audience through her
own personal stories and the stories of other inspiring women who she has interviewed
for her book, articles, and documentary film. Her talk illustrates that change – well
managed and well trained for – is exciting, energizing, and helps us to grow and live
our best lives. Audience Testimonials

Julie Shifman “All I have to say is "WOW"! It seems as though everything is aligning in my life
since I began my journey after your talk.... so much has been accomplished just when
I thought I couldn't see the light of the very next day. I'm very happy to see that you
are offering the DVD of your talk! It's nice to have a bit of "Imagine" when we need
it!

Julie Shifman has a knack for meeting women where they are now, and inspiring them
to look ahead to their next endeavor. Speaking to a group of women from Hadassah,
the National Council of Jewish Women, and a local synagogue sisterhood, Julie faced
a diverse audience. There were professional women considering a career change;
stay-at-home moms wondering if this was an opportune time for them to re-enter the
workplace; full-time community volunteers; and others as yet unsure of their future
plans. Yet, Julie had something useful to offer everyone present. Her talk combined
practical exercises to pinpoint the needs and skills of her listeners, and inspirational
stories to help them overcome obstacles to their success. We loved her energy, her
passion, and her dynamic speaking style, and would recommend her to any women's
group seeking a motivational speaker.

“We received numerous praises from your presentation. I’m so pleased we had
this opportunity to provide this meaningful program to our alumnae. Thank you so
much for graciously offering to share your experience with these women; it was
wonderful to watch them all putting your advice into action.”
Lauren Carrescia: New York University Career Director
“This morning made us all feel as if we CAN do anything if we risk and if we
dream. This is my belief as well, but always good to be reminded of our
purpose. The ladies I sat with at my table were moved to tears several times
and I was also glad for some tissues in my purse.”
