YEAR 5 HOME LEARNING Date set Thurs 20/03/14 Due in - Tues 25/03/14 CURRICULUM LINK— Literacy Length of task 30 minutes We are learning to make deductions from a text. In literacy this week we have been studying the poem ‘The highwayman’. Using the extract provided, we would like you to design a wanted poster for the character the highwayman. You should use the information from the poem in order to draw and describe the character e.g ‘A bunch of lace at his chin’ implies that he is wearing a cravat or frilly shirt. Your wanted poster should include: An image of the highwayman His name and some information about the crime he has committed (you may need to re-read the entire poem) A few sentences to describe his appearance ‘He'd a French cocked-hat on his forehead, a bunch of lace at his chin, A coat of the claret velvet, and breeches of brown doe-skin; They fitted with never a wrinkle: his boots were up to the thigh! And he rode with a jewelled twinkle, His pistol butts a-twinkle, His rapier hilt a-twinkle, under the jewelled sky.’ Should you wish to remind yourself of the entire poem, an example can be found by entering the title into a search engine or using the following link: http://www.poetryfoundation.org/poem/171940 Please tick 1 - TOO EASY 2 - EASY 3 - CHALLENGING 4 –TOO CHALLENGING CHILD RATING PARENT RATING Parent/child comment PARENT SIGNATURE_______________________ TIME SPENT ON TASK ________
