ChainReaction®BROWSER SETTINGS
Browser settings for use with ChainReaction® Solutions
Browser version

Microsoft Internet Explorer version 9 and later (for Windows).
Pop-up Blockers



ChainReaction® solutions try to give the user a look & feel of Microsoft Windows. To enable
this we need to bring up various screens as a “Pop-Up”.
Internet Explorer itself and many special toolbars (like the Google and Yahoo toolbars) have
pop-up blockers. Please make sure that all pop-up blockers are turned off for the
ChainReaction® software site (the URL).
Select “Tools – Internet Options - Privacy Tab” and make sure that the “Turn on Pop-Up
Blocker” is unchecked.
Security


The location of the ChainReaction® software (the URL) should be made set as “Local
Intranet”. This gives the application the appropriate security settings.
Select “Tools – Internet Options - Security Tab”. Click on the Sites button as shown above. A
window will pop up where you type the IP address of the ChainReaction® solution and press
the Add button as shown.
Allow “Cookies”



For proper functioning of the ChainReaction® software certain “cookies” need to be created
and updated so the corresponding functionality has to be enabled.
Select “Tools – Internet Options - Privacy Tab”. Click on the Sites button as shown above. A
window will pop up where you type the IP address of the ChainReaction® solution and press
the Allow button as shown above.
For the above setting to work, Internet Explorer will have to be closed and restarted.
Compatibility settings




Internet Explorer 9.0 has the provision to allow older applications to work by blocking out the
new features. However ChainReaction® solutions require these new features.
Select the “Tools – Compatibility View Settings” menu option.
The Compatibility View Settings pop-up will be displayed. Make sure that the ChainReaction®
URL is not in the list of websites.
Performance


Internet Explorer setting to make sure that the same information is not downloaded multiple
times. This setting has a big influence on the speed of the ChainReaction® solutions.
Select the “Tools – Internet Options - General Tab”. Click on the Settings button in the
Browsing History section as shown above. A small window will open – under the “Check for
newer versions of stored pages:” section select “Automatically”, as show above.
Active-X controls


Certain programs require Active-X controls to work.
Select the “Tools – Internet Options - Security Tab”. Click on the Custom Level button as
shown above. A small window will open – in the “ActiveX controls and plug-ins” section set
“Allow previously unused ActiveX controls to run without prompt” to enabled.
