Schools Project

Project Outline
Experience of life across Europe is both similar and different. This project aims to
connect young people (5 – 12 year olds) with their peers across Europe to let them
compare aspects of day to day life, likes, dislikes, interests etc. Children will be able
to learn about their place in the wider world by exchanging questions and answering
questions on topics such as:






School (daily routines, subjects, age start school etc.)
Activities to do/ places to go in your town
Transport (prices, types etc)
Environment (recycling, environmentally friendly initiatives)
Food
Sports and TV
Each participating school/ class will submit questions they want to know about life in
other countries. These questions will be collated by Europe Direct Aberdeen and
sent out to each participating school who will then answer the questions.
The answers can include photos, drawings and even videos. All submissions will be
displayed on a dedicated website and the highlights from each country will feature in
a published book. Each school participating will receive hard copies of the booklet
along with links to the website and e-book and a certificate for taking part.
Schools will have the opportunity to build upon the project and maintain links with
one another following the exchange through E-twinning.
Aims and Objectives of Project



To connect local primary school children with their peers across Europe.

with the experiences of other young people in Europe.
To instil a sense of pride in their own city/ town where they live as well as
promoting a sense of global citizenship.
What you need to do to take part:
After reading this information pack, your school needs to decide if it can commit to
this project and the terms and conditions set out in this pack. In particular you need
to check if you can:

Be able to provide questions and answers in English or French or in your
native language with an English or French translation.

Keep to the strict timetable (below) and carefully follow the instructions for
each and every step. This is very important!!

Be able to meet the costs of producing and sending your submissions to
Europe Direct Aberdeen. We recommend sending your submissions
electronically via email or for larger files through https://wetransfer.com/ (free
version). It needn’t cost you anything additional to your usual classroom
budget.
