Go Before You Show March of Dimes IMPACT Collaborative 2-1-1 United Way Helpline Healthy Babies are Worth the Wait • March of Dimes community program aimed at reducing preterm birth. • Partnership among: March of Dimes chapter, health department, clinic/hospital, and the community. • Includes three critical elements: clinical interventions, provider/patient education, and community awareness. • Efforts are focused on results and include process and pregnancy outcome measures. Houston Goals • Reduce the singleton preterm birth rate by 12% by 2014 in HBWW sites. • Reduce elective inductions and cesarean sections conducted prior to 39 weeks gestation. • Measure positive change in provider knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding elective procedures and the management of preterm birth. • Measure positive change in consumer knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding preterm birth and elective procedures. • Increase patient entry into prenatal care in the first trimester of pregnancy. Initiative Goal Increase the percentage of births receiving care in the first trimester in Harris County by 7% one year after campaign launch. Go Before You Show Campaign “Go Before You Show” (GBYS) is a public education effort aimed at increasing knowledge about the importance of early prenatal care. Deliver a community wide message regarding the early and consistent prenatal care. Our Message If you’re pregnant or think you might be, then “Go Before You Show”. Go see a healthcare provider for your first prenatal care appointment. – Prenatal care is the care you get while you’re pregnant. – Early and regular prenatal care can increase your chances of a safe pregnancy and healthy baby. – Dial 2-1-1 for free information and referral assistance.
