14. Diabetes Long-Term Complication
People with diabetes are at risk of developing long-term complications from the disease
including damage to the eyes, kidneys and nerves. They are also at increased risk of
developing cardiovascular disease, including coronary heart disease, stroke, and peripheral
vascular disease. Long-term diabetes complications are thought to arise from sustained longterm poor control of diabetes.
