Last week I made an appeal for donations to help Sumani (the international student who was attending our congregation and just graduated from SNHU this May; she owes back tuition because her parents’ house collapsed in India which caused them to stop tuition payments). I am happy to report that we collected $595 in donations—which we rounded up to $600 to cover her first month’s payment and gives her a grace period to find a job. Your generosity is much appreciated! Praise God! Pastor Marlayna “SHARE YOUR HISTORY” DAY The Emma Blood French building on the corner of Pine and Concord streets is celebrating its 100th anniversary this November. In 1916 it was the first permanent home of the Manchester Institute of Arts & Sciences (now the New Hampshire Institute of Art). Since then, thousands of people have enjoyed concerts, lectures, art classes and exhibits, along with many other cultural activities there. On Sunday, June 26 the public is invited to bring in their old photos, programs, artwork or just memories about their experiences there to help them commemorate the event. Pastor Marlayna’s 25th anniversary of ordination – “An Evening of Food and Community” – Thursday, June 30, beginning at 5 pm in the Manning House. There will be an animal and nature theme, in support of Heifer International, and we will be treated to a few farm animal visits! SUMMER STORY HOUR As part of our Summer Story Hour and church-wide mission focus on Heifer International, we are planning a church outing to the Heifer Farm in Rutland, MA, on Saturday, July 16. Join us for an Animal Connections workshop from 10 am-12:30 pm to learn about the many benefits animals provide while we participate in seasonal activities such as spinning wool, collecting eggs, milking a goat or grooming livestock. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the farm after our workshop. The cost of the workshop is $10/person.
