What do you like about Fraser Park?
Welcome back to the start of another exciting
year of learning at Fraser Park. Preschool-7
School.
We have great learning planned for both
teachers and students this year.
We started the year with a visit from the Port
Adelaide football club who brought their
Aboriginal Education team to talk to the
students about what it takes to be an AFL
footballer. We had Paul Vandenberg, Karl
Amon and Aidyn Johnson. The players talked
to the students about training requirements
of being an AFL player, healthy eating,
healthy sleep for recovery and about how
your teacher is like your coach. The players
then came out to the oval for a kick of the
footy and to sign autographs. The students
had a great time and learned important
things about keeping fit and healthy.
In week zero the staff learned about cultural
competencies with Di Grigg. We went to
Colebrook to learn about the history of the
Aboriginal children that called Colebrook
home. There are beautiful monuments there
and it was very sad and interesting to learn
about the people that lived there. We then
went to Kaurna Living Heritage Centre to
learn about
the history of the Kaurna
people. We learned about bush medicine,
history, music and the Kaurna
Dreaming
Story of Tjilbruke. It was great for all of the
staff to get the common
experience of doing training together, we
had a lot of FUN.

Pulyeri has had a great start to 2016.
We have been busy building, pouring,
floating and sinking objects, as well as
developing creative play.
Our discovery table has been very popular
this week as the children looked closely at sea
sponges, shark eggs and sea shells.
Outside the children have loved the new addition of
the boat wheel and telescope.
The new pirate ship has also been a great success.
This term we are looking closely at the story Louise
Builds a Boat by Louise Pfanner. This has
inspired us to have a nautical theme and to
also explore building/making boats and other
creations.
The children have included our Persona Doll,
Widthalana in the Pulyeri activities and the
children have already helped her make her
own Identity Web.
Cheers, Brad
