His first three books, respectively ' Fever pitch', 'High fidelity' and 'About a boy' are inspired by his own life. Since 2010 he also writes essays and songs. A thirty-six-year-old that won't grow up. Finds Marcus boring, but then protects him like a father. Fiona There is also a movie based on this book. Not much has been changed for that, only some small details. I think the film is great for those who don't like books, but love a sentimental, inspiring story. Fiona, Marcus' depressed mum, is a little bit weird. She doesn't know that Marcus spends so much time at Will's. She loves to hear him sing, it's the only thing that she still enjoys. He's also discovered a great way to score with women- at single parents groups, full of available mothers, all waiting for Mr Nice.
