Author: Nick Hornby
Nick Hornby is an English writer. He lives
and works in Highbury. Before he became a
writer, he has been a teacher and a
freelance journalist. His first three books,
respectively ' Fever pitch', 'High fidelity' and
'About a boy' are inspired by his own life.
Since 2010 he also writes essays and
songs.
A thirty-six-year-old
that won't grow up.
Finds Marcus boring,
but then protects him
like a father.
Fiona
There is also a movie based on this book.
Not much has been changed for that, only
some small details. I think the film is great
for those who don't like books, but love a
sentimental, inspiring story.
Fiona, Marcus' depressed mum, is a little bit
weird. She doesn't know that Marcus
spends so much time at Will's. She loves to
hear him sing, it's the only thing that she still
enjoys.

The movie
your
attention!
Thank
you
for
Will is thirty-six but acts like a teenager. He
reads the right magazines, goes to the right
clubs and knows which trainers to wear.
He's also discovered a great way to score
with women- at single parents groups, full of
available mothers, all waiting for Mr Nice.
That's where he meets Marcus, the oldest
twelve-year-old in the world. Marcus is a bit
strange: he listens to Mozart, looks after his
mum and he's never even owned a pair of
trainers. Perhaps if Will can teach Marcus
how to be a kid, Marcus can help Will grow
up ...
