CHRYSANTHEMUM PINS RECEIVED WITH PRIDE
Silver Metal
February 11th marked the day in Martin Health history where 56 of the very first scholarship recipients from
7636 C
the newly created Mum Ball Nursing Education Fund were honored and presented with their
congratulatory pins. Executives and Mum Ball committee members were among those gathered to
congratulate the scholarship recipients and wish them well on their journey to expanding their knowledge
and pursuing their advanced degrees. President and Chief Executive Officer, Mark Robitaille opened the pinning
ceremony with a few words of encouragement. “We are inspired by you for accepting the challenge to further your careers.
As an organization, we strongly believe in facilitating and promoting from within. Not only will this amazing opportunity
benefit you on a personal level, but Martin Health System will continue to raise the standard on providing quality patient
care and with patients being our main focus and priority, ultimately and more importantly, patients will benefit.” Last
November, the Chrysanthemum Ball raised over $800,000 towards the cause, which will allow approximately 100
scholarships. Our next round of applications are being accepted by Martin Health associates now.

Allola McGraw, a Mum Ball committee member of nine
years stated, “The committee was ecstatic to support the
idea of having a nursing education fund. We realize how
expensive schooling is and we are happy to help advance
their careers and supporting our community. We
absolutely love the enthusiasm of the nurses.”

ER Nurse, Reagan Schultz, passionately summarized the
availability of having this opportunity as being a relief. “It
really is an indescribable feeling. It did not fully sink in
until after registering for classes that I did not have to pay.
We get so consumed and overwhelmed with family and
work life, that even thinking about going back to school
because of financial reasons is hopeless. I’m proud to say
we are taken care of by Martin.”

expansion of knowledge within our nursing staff, we will
be providing improved care for our patients at the bedside
subsequently positively impacting our community.”
