Context (Where Found / Viewed / Read?)
Content / CD / Summary / Precis (Say? “Plot? Setting/Situation? Key lines/phrases scenes, etc? )
This poem is a thirteen part dissection of the symbolic blackbird. This poem describes the
blackbird literally and figuratively in many environments. Some of the parts don't use the
word black bird at all. Some parts the black bird only plays a minor role in the story.
Content / CM / Meaning? / Theme(s)?
The poem shows the many dimensions of the bird. The blackbird, like so many other
things is not of a single dimension and has many sides to it. It's application in poetry is
also somewhat of a variable.
Form (Diction? Construction Terms? Symbolism?)
This poem is separated into thirteen separate parts with numbers as the title. The
segments are short and all very different. Some are simple descriptions and others are
very poetic.
Commentary (What do you want to say? Why like? Questions? Synthesis / Allusions-Connections /
Relevance to personal experience, to literature, 20Q’s? etc.)? “Poetic” Traits?
I like this poem because it's analysis of a single subject is very thorough. The intense
analysis of a symbol theme to build a greater understanding is very poetic.
