Without Traveling Worship:
When worshipping, guide children to gather around you on the floor. Some children
(especially the younger ones) may wander. That’s okay. They’re still listening and learning!
Follow the script below. All of the songs are on your classroom CD. Don’t forget to participate
and have fun!

Lead children in singing “Nobody Loves Me Like You”
WORSHIP LEADER: “Great singing! Nobody loves us like God! I know it’s true because it
says so in the Bible. Let’s practice our Bible verse together! Let’s start off by whispering it.”
CHILDREN and WORSHIP LEADER: “‘Nothing (shake your head side to side and wave your
arms in front of you like you’re saying ‘no way’) can ever separate (spread arms wide apart)
us from God’s love (point up and then hug yourself).’ Romans 8:39” (Hold hands out like a
book.)
WORSHIP LEADER: “That was pretty good! Let’s try it again, but this time I want us to shout
it. I want everyone to be so loud that our parents hear us in church. Ready?”
CHILDREN and WORSHIP LEADER: (Shouting.) “‘Nothing (shake your head side to side
and wave your arms in front of you like you’re saying ‘no way’) can ever separate (spread
arms wide apart) us from God’s love (point up and then hug yourself).’ Romans 8:39” (Hold

WORSHIP LEADER: “Wow! That was really loud! I think the people across the street heard
you! Great job! I love that verse because it tells us all about how much God loves us. Let’s
sing a song that tells us the same thing!”

A Bible
One small toy figure (shepherd from Nativity)
One large toy soldier/giant figure
Bag with five stones or gray pom poms
STORYTELLER: “Hey, everyone! I have to tell you what I just read. It’s about David, and
something that happened to him that was amazing. I read about it here in the (Open Bible) …
Bible! That’s right.
“It all starts with David (Take out small plastic toy figure and place it in front of you). Can
you all say ‘David’ with me? (Pause for response.) Great. The other person in our story is
named Goliath. (Take our larger figure and place it beside the smaller figure.) Can you all
say ‘Goliath’ with me? (Pause for response.) That’s right. Goliath was a great, big, huge giant.
That means he was way, way, way tall. Way taller than David.
“Well, one day David heard Goliath being very mean. Goliath was so mean that he made fun
of God! David knew that Goliath could not make fun of God and get away with it. But no one
wanted to fight Goliath. Everyone was too scared of him. So David decided he would fight
Goliath! Little David (Pick up small David figure) was going to fight huge Goliath (Pick up
large Goliath figure)!
“Do you know why David was so brave? David knew that God loved him no matter what. He
knew God would help him do something hard—even something as hard as fighting Goliath!
“So David went down to the water and chose five smooth stones. Can you count the stones
with me? (Pull the stones out of your bag and count them.) One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Then
he picked up his sling shot and threw one! It hit Goliath right in the head! And do you know
what? (Knock larger figure over with the smaller figure.) David won! Little David (Pick up
small David figure) beat huge Goliath! (Motion to fallen large Goliath figure.)
