This month we celebrate the virtue
of hope. We believe that God comes
to us a real human who can show us
the way of life.
Let us pray for the grace and
courage to be people of hope people who can see, participate in
and contribute to God’s goodness
emerging around us.
My friends, let us bless the Lord.
By day and by night, and through
every season, you watch over us,
Lord. We praise you for this
Advent wreath. It is the evergreen
crown of your people, and it
shines with the promise of victory.
By the light of this wreath we
shall wait in patience for your
Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. He
will comfort our fears and bring
hope to our waiting world. All
glory be yours, now and forever.
Amen

CHRISTMAS SEASON
IS HERE!
Casual Fridays
You may observe that the
staff dresses in a casual
manner on Fridays.
Through donations made
on these Fridays, we are
supporting Share Life.
Dufferin-Peel,
as we know it
today, is rich
in the history
and modern
traditions of
many
First
Nations, the Métis and
Inuit. From the lands of the
Anishinaabe (Ah-nish-nahbay),
to
the
Haudenosaunee (Ho-dehno-show-nee), and the
Métis,
these
lands
surrounding the Great
Lakes are steeped in
Indigenous history. As we
gather today on these
treaty lands, our Catholic
Social Teachings call us in
Solidarity
with
our
Indigenous brothers and
sisters to honour and
respect the four directions,
lands, waters, plants,
animals and ancestors that
walked before us. All these
wonderful elements of
creation exist, gifted to us
by our Creator God. We
like to acknowledge and
thank the Mississaugas of
the New Credit First
Nation of being stewards
of this traditional territory.

Volunteers Needed For School Trips
Every volunteer for trips must have a completed Criminal
Reference Check. If you are interested and available to assist
with this valuable experience, please see the office for a police
check form, which must be signed by the principal before it is
submitted to Peel Police. There is no charge for volunteers for
the school board. It can take up to 6 weeks to get a criminal
reference check. When your police check is completed, the
classroom teacher will photocopy it and return the original to
you. Your contribution towards supervision and safety of the
students is essential. There are adult to student ratios that must
be met which varies from each division. Thank you for
your continued support.
WINTER WEATHER
During the winter season, there are occasions that
the students are kept in for indoor recess. It is
generally accepted that when the wind-chill factor
is –25C, students do not go out for recess. We
also practice modified recess for days when
temperature is between –20C and –24C. On
these cold days, we consult regularly with the
Weather Network.
Please ensure your child is coming to school
prepared for the weather. Hats, gloves, scarves, boots are all
essential. Depending on the age of the child, snow pants are
also an important item. Ensure items are labelled with your

DONATIONS OF EYEGLASSES
Reduce, Reuse: Youth Faith Ambassadors are going to
be collecting prescription eyeglasses for Canadian Food
for Children, an organization run by Dr. Simone. This
non-profit Catholic organization feeds children from
developing countries of the world. We will be collecting your old eyeglasses from October 21st through
Christmas. Boxes are in the front foyer.
Now that the cold months have arrived and snow and ice are
plentiful, a reminder of our safety policy is warranted.
Throwing snowballs and sliding on ice are not allowed. As
much fun as snow and ice are, they can be very dangerous when
there are many people in one area. Most student injuries
happen during the winter months. In order for our school to be
as safe as possible, the school rule must be that snow stays on
the ground—no snowballs, kicking snow or any other activity
with snow or ice that could be harmful. Students are reminded
daily on morning announcement as well as in the classrooms.
Please take a few moments to reinforce these important safety
rules with your children.
COLD AND FLU SEASON
Please use discretion in keeping your child home to
recover if they are ill. A child who is coughing, wheezing,
etc. is not in a state to learn and will only
infect others. If a student is sent to
school, it is assumed that they will
participate in all aspects of the school
day, including outdoor recess.
