Starting the Landform Station Directions: 1. Create a before and after storyboard of the landform chose. Think about how the landform can change over time. 2. Use page 32 and 33 in your spiral to draft your ideas. Draw the before picture on page 34 and the after picture on page 35. Answer the questions in complete sentences on page 36 and 37. The Rubric for this assignment is as follows: 4 Points – Student has demonstrated a thorough understanding of Earth’s surface, landforms, and systems (e.g., geosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere). The student’s response to the task is comprehensive and thoughtful, and accurately represents how natural forces and interactions among Earth’s systems would change Earth’s surface and landforms. The models and explanations may contain minor flaws that do not detract from a demonstration of thorough understanding. 3 Points – Student has demonstrated an understanding of Earth’s surface, landforms, and systems (e.g., geosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere). The student’s response to the task is logical, and appropriately represents how natural forces and interactions among Earth’s systems would change Earth’s surface and landforms. The models and explanations may contain minor flaws that reflect inattentiveness or indicate some minor misunderstanding of underlying scientific concepts and/or procedures. 2 Points – Student has demonstrated only a partial understanding of Earth’s surface, landforms, and systems (e.g., geosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere). Although the student’s response to the task may be somewhat logical, it lacks an essential understanding of how natural forces and interactions among Earth’s systems would change Earth’s surface and landforms. The models and explanations may contain errors related to misunderstanding of underlying scientific concepts or important aspects of the task. 1 Point – Student has demonstrated a very limited understanding of Earth’s surface, landforms, and systems (e.g., geosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere). The student’s response to the task does not make sense, and does not explain how natural forces and interactions among Earth’s systems would change Earth’s surface and landforms. There are major flaws in the models and explanations, which may be incomplete. 0 Points (Unscorable) – Student has not demonstrated an understanding of Earth’s surface, landforms, and systems (e.g., geosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere). The student’s response to the task, including the models and explanations, may be completely off topic, uninterpretable, and/or completely insufficient.
