Community Service Subcommittee
1. Significant accomplishments by sub-committee:
 Published Community Service Summary for District Website ,as a tool ,stating,
purpose ,goals, projects, training, speakers, Lacy-Bomar Awards, Club
Recognition, Contacts. The Summary was sent to all AG’S, Club Presidents,
Club Community Service and or Service Project chairs.
 Requested each club send an article for the District Newsletter outlining a
Community Service Project.
 DG Beth discussed the Summary content available on the District Website at
each DG visit, and listed same on Facebook.
2. Plans for next six months by subcommittee:
 Service Projects:
 One new Community Service Project per club related to the Six Areas of
Focus:
 Each club submit one entry for the Lacy/Bomar award for Community Service
 Continue requests for articles for the District Newsletter
International Service Subcommittee
Clubs are working, albeit slowly, towards achieving Globe Club
status (Table 1).

November 14, 2015 - Knoxville Breakfast hosted our inbound
students and inbound students from West TN for UT Vols
Football game
December 4-6, 2015 - We had 8 Committee Members attend
retreat in Jabez, KY.
December 12, 2015 - 4 outbound interviews in Crossville, 3
outbound interviews in Knoxville
Future Plans:
January 22-24, 2016 - our inbound students will go snow-skiing
in Blowing Rock, NC, with NC Rotarians.
February 24-27, 2016 - We have 12 Committee Members planning
to attend NAYEN Conference in Cincinnati.
March 4-6, 2016 - Pigeon Forge Rotary will host our inbound
students and students from NC for Interact Conference where
students will speak.
March 12, 2016 - outbound student orientation in Asheville, NC.
April 16, 2016 - outbound student orientation (District-only) in
Knoxville.
April 29-30, 2016 - inbound students will attend District
Conference in Pigeon Forge.
Interact
Interact Bruce Wilson has identified all of the Interact clubs
in the district that are registered with RI (Table 2).
Interact folks are in the middle of planning for their annual
conference in Pidgeon Forge on March 4-6, 2016. Friday
will include opening ceremonies, dinner at Hatfield and
McCoys, and talent contest. Saturday will have opening
ceremonies at 9:00 and conclude at 12:00. A variety of
presentations will involved. Reconvene at 5:00 for dinner
and to Country Opera for conclusion of days activities.
Sunday will begin at 9:30 and include guest speakers. More
details will be available in January.
Scholarships include: Lacey, Brown, and Bomar.
International projects are: Polio Plus and Heart-2-Heart.
Local projects are: American Eagle Foundation and
Appalachian Bear Rescue
