Augustus.
1) What were some of Augustus’s accomplishments?
Augustus ruled during the Pax Romana, so he had many accomplishments. Some were new
roads, new bridges, peace, reorganizing the army; increased soldiers pay, created a police and
fire department, and created a civil service system.
2) Where did all the extra money go?
It went to building new temples, theatres, a library, and public baths.
Jewish Uprising.
1) Who was Josephus?
Josephus was a Jewish historian. He was a very smart man who was worshipped by his
people. He was captured in battle, and became a negotiator.
2) About how many people died in this war?
There were about 97,000 captives and 1,100,000 people killed.
Religion.
1) Who do the people of Rome worship?
The people of Rome worshipped the Gods, Goddesses, and the emperor. The emperor is
looked at as a God.
2) How would the Romans accept you?
You didn’t actually have to believe in the religion, you just had to perform the rituals.
The Forum.
1) What goes on in the forum?
There are religion festivals, you can bank, speeches, elections, gladiator matches,
and criminal trials.
2) Who built the second forum?
The second forum was built by Julius Caesar. He built a new one because the first
forum was to small and crowded. The second one was much bigger.
